Yes sir, was thinking about just doing the harness for now.

I agree that the DD SS3's are amazing! But if you're not looking to drop that kind of coin right now I would HIGHLY recommend getting the Tungsram Megalight Ultra h11 (used to be GE) or Philips Xtreme Vision Pro. Powerbulbs is fantastic and ships surprisingly fast from the UK.

    https://www.powerbulbs.com/us/product/tungsram-megalight-ultra-h11-twin

    https://www.powerbulbs.com/us/product/philips-x-tremevision-pro150-h11-single

I have the Tungsram/GE in my Tacoma fog lights and they are fantastic! Which is why I have chosen to upgrade lighting on my other vehicles before the Tacoma. The Tacoma (2012-2015) has surprisingly great lighting (both headlights and fog lights assuming you have OEM Toyota housings) from the factory if you simply upgrade the bulbs. Infact, I have retrofitted RX350 projectors with clear lens swap and Osram NB Lasers with Hella Gen III ballasts and I have at times considered swapping back to the OEM headlights. Which is backwards to what most people would do. Don't get me wrong, those RX350's are amazing and my setup is considered to be pinnacle of retrofits. But sometimes simpler is better.

EDIT: Also a fun fact....if you have an AGM battery and do the Diode Upgrade to increase the voltage output of the alternator to properly charge the AGM battery the output of Halogen bulbs increase accordingly.

Thanks for the ideas! Yes I have factory housings for headlights and fogs. I just put brand new OEM headlight housings in so the lens and light spread is very clean. The fogs are needing some love now.

For the headlights I had the Philips Racing Vision H4 and those were VERY good as well while staying with stock wattage. Also, I have had the fog lights for about 3 years and I have the "Fog Light Anytime" mod and they are on all the time. The bulbs have lasted that long! The H4 Racing Visions I had for about 2 years before the retrofit. For most of that time I had the Diode to increase charging voltage (14.2v stock , no 14.7v) and have not had a bulb fail. Though they do progressively dimmer over time which is normal and not noticeable since it happens so slowly over time.

I’ll tackle that beast once I actually can afford to buy a house where I live haha. Hopefully in the next year or two we’ll be ready to get one. Covid put a big hit on that for us.

We are in the same situation. We were going to build this coming spring....but prices of materials would make it cost almost 20%-30% more, I'll wait another year. lol

FWIW, like I said a few posts above. The OEM foglights are pretty impressive already once a better bulb is installed. The SS3's are great too and even better in poor weather. But I would personally save up for sliders or other mechanical gear before swapping fog lights in my opinion...I know I'll get some flack for that statement!

I hear ya man. The fogs on my truck work quite well, especially with the better bulbs. It's more a WANT thing right now than a NEED thing. If they were shitty to begin with them I probably wouldn't hesitate to change them out. I jo back and forth about it. Are the later 2nd Gen fog lights different than the other years in terms of function?

Yes. All 12-15 OEM fogs had the high output wide angle fogs, that would later be reserved only for TRD OR and Sport. 16-19 only received them on the TRD OR and Sport models. All other 3rd Gens have very low output H16 fogs, and early 2nd Gens had lower output H10/9145 fogs compared to their 12+ counterparts. 20+ 3rd Gen discontinued the TRD fogs, unless you are in Canada where the TRD wide angle fogs were never offered in 3rd Gen.

Well that explains why mine are not that bad then. Here's a picture of mine that I just took. I have Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in the fogs, and Silverstars for the headlights. I wouldn't mind a little more throw but overall I can't complain now with how they're performing.

Not to sound like a neigh sayer. You will notice quite an improvement from your current setup if you got the bulbs I listed before. Silverstar bulbs are overrated and over priced. Also for some reason I've noticed that they don't tend to last very long for some reason.

No worries, I appreciate the feedback. This is all informative for me and helping me to decide on what I need to do. Thanks!

Every Silverstar I’ve owned burnt out in less than a year.

Good to know. Thanks! By the way, I'm still getting condensation in the fog light. :annoyed: I'm going to have to buy new ones.

It was worth a shot! Go with DD for output, KC for ease of installation. My G4’s were a breeze to install and adjust. My DD’s are on a light bar, so no Tacoma specific mounts. The DD sports will replace the side shooters.

Nice setup! I like how the KC's look in the housing, very clean and almost factory-like. 5000k output isn't too white, although I prefer 4000k, it looks a little more natural. The DD's look kind of funny to me, but their performance appears to be unmatched.

Can I run the Silverstar bulbs that I have in now with an upgraded harness? I really don't want to have to replace them again and spend more money if I don't have to. The Osrams will be the next ones I buy though.

Ok , so , putting it in a nutshell, the KC Gravity G4 in amber only will give me great results with what I’m after in my stock bumper for poor conditions? And they are direct fit? If so , I think I’ve decided

If you really like the reflector-style look, yes. It is heavily outperformed by the SS3 though.
