I got a couple new printers. A Elegoo Mars 2 resin printer and a Anet A8 plus.

The resin is great for smaller parts with more detail.

    The A8 plus is for larger printing. 300 x 300 x350mm

    I am making a 1/10 scale 4Runner and my old 200 x 200 wasn't large enough.

FYI on that body part above. It is from the B pillars to the hatch (not including the hatch).

I am printing at .1mm layers to get the best quality possible.

The drawback so far 1 day 22 hours 24 minutes in with about 9 hours to go.

It looks messy because there are supports around the body but the body itself looks great.

When I first got my printer I didn't know jack about settings. I did the initial test prints, but I took on a monumental print for my first real job. It was 56 hours. I was freaking out, I thought for sure it was gonna fail at any time. Good times

Actually the first attempt did fail. SCE cut off our power for two days due to winds. I had already pulled it off the bed by the time it came back on and found out it had resume print. Its ok because it was gray filliment and my white roll was delivered by then.

Resume is hit or miss. If it takes too long to hit resume the already printed parts will have cooled and shrunk. This often leaves a visible line and layer adhesion issues at the resume line.

So I started messing around with Prusaslicer and some small parts since I can't run anything big right now. So far I'm impressed. Need to see it on something larger than a calibration cube though. If this ironing feature works as well on larger objects, It might be enough for me to drop Simplify3d.

I wish I could get Simplify3D's supports in Prusaslicer, Prusaslicer 2.3 is amazing though, they have made huge improvements to it.

I haven't printed anything with it needing supports yet. Just din rail mounts and a couple of calibration cubes. New chamber heater should be here tomorrow, then I'm moving electronics to a drawer, then I'll try something bigger and with overhangs. I really like the variable acceleration settings.

I want my MK3S+ kit to get here with the new Pinda. I’ve been having first layer changing issues with the new firmware and I think it is directly related to the pinda update, gonna downgrade til I get it.

So this wasn't for the Tacoma, but to solve a stupid Honda EU2000i portable generator oil spout design. Every time changing the oil takes half an hour mostly due to cleaning up the oil that goes everywhere since they made the spout so short it ends inside the case. Finally found it had 3/4-10" threads so I sketched this up in Fusion360 and printed out in PETG. Stuck an O-ring on for a good seal.

That's terrific. I am a CAD newbie - and I intend to teach myself to operate fusion360. Can you recommend a good place to start?

I have mostly used ProE/Creo so I still stumble around F360, but the price is right. Much of what I learned is from YouTube as far as the mechanics of doing things in it. Don't feel bad starting out, I still sink way too much time into making things, that is the price for learning. Look for videos of steps for making basic parts so you understand the flow, and then look up what the feature options do.

Best general advice if you are new to CAD:
    - think about the basic shapes that make up the thing (extruded 2D lines/arcs, a revolve, a swept cross section)
    - think about the order of how you create those shapes (do you create some angled surface to reference then grow something else?)

Simplify and break it down into the geometric features then look for the tool options to put those together. Remember for most parts you are making a 2D cross section and then pulling it in various directions.

You must have that printer dialed in pretty well to get threads to fit.

I’ve printed some parts requiring internal 1/4-20 threads, but just made thick walls & tapped them afterwards.

I’ve used Fusion360 for a few items at home, but it’s quite different from Solidworks that I use at work, so I’ve struggled.
