I was 15 when I finally got my first one. Started shooting at them when I was about 11. Cole was 7 when he got his first one last year. We thought it was a doe, turned out to be a button head.

    Good morning everyone.....

My second buck tag says 2009 and shot a little nicer one in 2011. 2011 was the last buck. Back straps you cooked the other day looked awesome. That's the only portion I ever keep to grill, the rest goes to process jerky, deer bacon, etc. Hangs in my reloading room.20201214_052057.jpg

got my first one 30 minutes into opening day the first year I was able to hunt alone (2015, I never took hunters safety as a kid, had to take the class before I could go). I didn’t see another buck in the woods until this year, which is my 2nd. I’m hoping to do some target practice and training so I can take the little one, ( she’ll be 8) out for youth day this year if she wants to go.

    That’s a nice looking rack!

Is it okay to tell another guy that?

That’s nice, 30 minutes into the first alone hunt. Does your daughter enjoy shooting? Mine is 5 and is “meh” right now. Now my son, he’s 8 and wants to go shooting all the time.

My last one 2011, also in reloading room. Just sitting on table below cabinet where I store powder. That's something I could do constructive today is pick up and organize a bit. We're finally on 4 10s schedule so I have Mondays off. I dread the colder weather it makes home shop time, and outdoor work not so pleasant. Oh, and around here we used to see 2x the deer 10 years ago. Some disease knocked the population way down.20201214_053746.jpg

I doubt I’ll ever get one that quickly again! I bought my daughter a crickett 22 when she was 4, she never showed any interest until this year, and she seems to like it pretty well. She’s getting better with the open sights, but I’m not sure if she could hit the broad side of a barn just yet.

I made a friend on my first hunt that is sure to remain a friend the rest of our days. He lives in Louisiana but he returns to Nebraska for hunt and spend time with his father. He showed me how to properly 'knock the guts out' and such. My father passed away vehicle accident when I was 3 so I had no one to help me learn. A blessing I met Jim. Great guy. He got a decent one this yearIMG_0183.jpg

Here’s my three best bucks. 1st one I got with a compound bow in 2003, the 2nd one with a compound bow last year, and the 3rd one with a rifle in 2010. All here in N.C.

@Taco critter nothing like some snow on your birthday. How much are y’all supposed to get? It’s pouring down rain here until lunch.
