meh I better keep the gun.

but if a local third gen buys these I might be inclined to throw in an OVTune as well...

@Sandman614 I'm trying to decide on suspense for the T4R. How are those BP-51s on the road? I don't need a ton of travel and I think I'd like the adjustability of them.

I know they look good on instagram, but just seems like a lot of money for less adjustment and virtually no warranty.

They're shocky, dampen the springyness just as good as any other shock combo. If you want gram points and to spend money get em. You'd be just as good on road with bilsteins.

Adjustments are well IMO useless. You'll end up setting them up then leaving the adjustments alone.

I don't anticipate adjusting them much once they are set, but the only way to make compression adjustments on virtually any other shock is to change the valving. So I can chose custom valving and hope it comes the way I like them, or buy a shock that I am able to tune myself. Right?

Never touched the adjustments myself, the shockyness and rebound are fine at shipped preset. I also understand I drive a truck and not a caddy.

Don't think they are going to be equal, tuning and changing those settings. It's more of a minor +/- of what ARB decided to give you not full on shock tuning.

You're wife won't know the difference

You can get adjusters on the other shocks (think they are on the rebound side). But if you order from AccuTune they'll tune them for you and if need be you can send them back for a retune after you get some miles on them and see if you need more or less. A side note to adjusting compression vs. rebound onroad you need more rebound car manufacturers set up factory for a ~1/3 compression to 2/3 rebound. Most of what you'll be hitting in the road will be on the rebound side vs. the compression side.

This it's just a very fine tuning of the preset valving and limited to a certain amount.

Gotcha. 4Runner will ride better than our trucks with almost any shocks just having coils in the back vs leaves. Almost any aftermarket shock will be overkill for her use, 99% of the time it'll be a grocery-getter. I'll keep doing research, just want her to have the best ride quality she can.

I put my Eibach back on my truck yesterday, and honestly it rides better than it did with the ADS...probably because the Eibach was specifically designed for the 3rd gens as opposed to the ADS being a generic valving for 05+ where weights vary wildly...that's why I wouldn't buy off the shelf 2.5's anymore, I'll buy from Accutune next time where they will valve it specific to my vehicle.

Does she like how it rides stock, I'm assuming she test drove them? Does she notice/like how your truck rides better? Let her take em for some Starbucks and hit some speed bumps in both.

Oh wait you already bought it, same applies.

She likes how it rides yes, but I'm putting E rated tires on it this week (thanks again @ovrlndkull ) so she's going to start feeling more bumps soon with the stiffer tires.

That's a hard no for me. A pavement pounder in this weight class has no reason having e-rated tires. You're just spending extra money for no good reason.

And while you're at it just go get a 2k winch and 20 snatch blocks

It rides pretty good with E rated, test fit them last week, but I do agree they are overkill.

The biggest thing for you then will be spring selection!!!!! You can have the best tuned shock in the world but if you get some nasty heavy springs for what the vehicle is then it'll ride like shiet. You are going to loose some smoothness with lifting but if you can lift it while coming close to OE spring rates, I'm assuming she isn't going to add a bunch of metal, then you'll get a better ride. Jeeps do this a lot keeping like a 500# spring just longer ones to gain the lift. The rear wouldn't be hard to find some potentially it'll be the front that may be more difficult. Also preloading the crap out of the springs will add to the stiffness/harshness of the ride if you get the rate incorrect.

Take your time don't rush this especially for her vehicle you may not want to be changing things up a lot.
