Cyberpunk2077 Caution, will contain spoilers

I think only Xbox has made that promise. I would assume Sony will as well but you never know.

I knew there was going to be issues with all the platforms I have yet to play again since Thursday

 

I am about an hour in and so far so good on my PC. I am running it at 4K high on my 2070 Super.

There are a few spots that are very action heavy where the frame rate drops to under 20 but that is only for a couple seconds then it picks back up.

No screen tears, glitches or NPCs with their wieners hanging out so far.

 

Looking at more of the reviews online I think PC is the way to play it right now or at least a next gen consoles. PS4 or Xbox, don’t even bother.

What I don’t understand is that why even release it for the PS4? They knew it wouldn’t perform, unstable and with poor graphics. Should of just released it for the PC and next gen consoles only. This is probably why they delayed the April release waiting for the next gen consoles to be release first.

 

Yeah. I was afraid when @Sterdog was complaining about it with his Nvidia 3090 but after a few more hours in it is running fine on my PC. I still do have occasional spots where the frame rate crawls but by the time it gets annoying it is over. I would rather have it happen once in a while than lower my resolution. Even with the 2070 Super it looks amazing 90% of the time.

 

Even on my 5yo PC it still looks pretty good. I've had a couple bugs pop up but all the annoying bugs go away with an exit & reload. Maybe I'm jaded by all the Bethesda releases but this doesn't seem as bad as people are making it out to be, hell this isn't much more buggy than skyrim 9 years after initial release.

Only regret is not upgrading my video card several months ago. I've got a shit load of stock trackers active so hopefully I can get a gtx 30 series soon.

And fuck the kabuki twins.

 

Least they have admitted they fucked up and are going to try to fix it. Doesnt excuse the release but better than other companies have done. But im sure the terrible user reviews on ps4/xbox (and to some extent pc) and the fact their stock has lost ~40% didnt have anything to do with it....

 

Well I made it through 50hrs of game play this weekend. Got Johnny's Porsche and gun so mission accomplished. Only real bugs I can find is reticle popup for one of my guns lingers for a bit and also a highlighted empty dialog window related to Johnny missions. First loads appear sketch and cars and people appear/disappear seconds after the screen loads up. My GOG also has been buggy. I can't play from the GOG because the Play button is greyed out and not responsive so I have to play from the cyberpunk exe game file.

 

TBF they knew this game wasn't ready. I've mentioned this on other forums but they had an investors meeting in late November and it's suspected it was to announce that they needed more time to polish the game. Investors, mostly banks with credit lines extended on this game and some skin in the game, said no. You make more money with a launch before Christmas, when people open their wallets wide open, than you would with a January launch so their financiers forced them to launch the game unfinished. Ultimately this whole debacle on the consoles is likely due to the search for more money. Let's not let them off the hook with PC either. If regular people are finding ways to change code and gain 10-20% FPS then obviously the studio made next to zero attempts to optimize the game. It all screams rush job.

I'm sure this letter had nothing to do with CD Projekt losing 40% of their share value.

That all being said the game play itself is great. A little kludgy with some key bindings being straight up retarded but otherwise the base game is something incredible. Very sad the focus, because of bad management decisions, has to be on the performance on some hardware.

 

I assumed that was the move. At least they are offering refunds for people who are unsatisfied.

I’m no investor but I wouldn’t want to taint a product to make a little extra cash. If you have a good product from the beginning you’ll make your money and then some in the long run. Maybe they figure since CDPR has such a good rep they would take advantage of it. I might be going too far and say that CDPR is starting to turn into those other developers. Keep in mind I’m a huge Witcher fan. The series was and still is one of the best game, great story, and well thought out side quest.

 

Investors don't care about the long run. Game studio investors are usually banks or large investors who only care about getting their money back, with interest, as quickly as possible. They don't care about the money that could be made in the long run. They care about how fast they can recover their finite investment. They don't care much about the studio itself either. They're only there for the time it takes to get their money. After that, the studio could fold and they wouldn't care.

Playing on One X

 

I remember thinking back at the beginning of the year that my system would have a hard time performing this game. I don't know why they went ahead and rushed all the consoles in one go. I mean I do, to please shareholders but it was definitely a mistake. All the concentration should have been with PC and next gen consoles. Rockstar made people wait for the PC version of RDR2. Actually, did that ever release on PC? I couldn't wait so I ended up getting it for PS4.

 

RDR2.has been out on PC for a while now. Its way better than on console. In fact I only play on PC now. I haven't touched my XBOX ONE X in months and let the gold license expire.

 

Maybe one of these days I'll pick it up for PC but I'm still not letting Micah out of jail.
