    This doesn’t change my commitment, but does this change anything with how to adjust valve clearances? When I have my truck open I figure I may as well check and adjust the valves since I’ll be about 75k miles. I just want to plan ahead with the info I’ll need.

    This doesn't change anything with valve clearances. Just get your cam lobe opposite its bucket when measuring and you're good. Unfortunately adjusting valve clearances isn't easy as it requires replacing the buckets with a new thicker/thinner bucket. No mechanical adjustment can be made.
    With that said- your options are to have the truck down till new buckets arrive in the mail after measuring or do the work twice. Measure 1st tear down, replace buckets second tear down

    Cool, after doing some research into this, I realize it's like the KTM 690 I had - unlike the XR650R I had which you could just loosen a nut and adjust the valves with a philips screwdriver.
    I'll check while doing the cam gears and if anything is wildly out of spec, then I'll deal with it on the fly. Otherwise, it will just be a check and button back up.
