I buy plenty of used vehicles, probably over 40 to this point in my 12 years of driving.

way too many miles for that price.

do yourself a favor, if the market is too hot in your area- be prepared for a nice road trip to get what you want. Better yet... buy a southern vehicle and get it shipped to you, you will thank me later.

tacomas are great but starting your journey at 160k miles for that price is a no go. Especially because the pictures show it with snow underneath. Don’t be lazy to get a vehicle.

Paid 30k flat for my baby below earlier this year... 18k miles - 4x4 limited 2015

yes but you also bought it brand new in 2011 lol. Much different world and truck market. I also bought my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 for $24k back then, i was able to get $12k off because gas was expensive and nobody was buying trucks.

what’s your point? Go find a 2015 limited 4x4 with 18k miles for cheaper

edit: my point of posting my deal wasn’t to compare his search to mine, it was about me taking a trip to find what i personally was looking for when shopping.

That same truck down here in so cal would be 20k and would sell in under 24hrs. Its a good deal if its rust free IMO.

LOL it’s a whole 4 years older than the truck you bought. The point was to offer up a point of comparison, that you paid MORE for a five year old vehicle than a brand new example from just a few years previous.

    Toyota tax is painful.

prices are high here in NY, but not that high. A lot of populated areas close to me so the used market has a good amount to chose from within 500 miles of me

Like i said, my point of posting my deal(i should have been more clear) was that i waited and traveled to find a low low miles 2015. It wasn’t a comparison of truck to truck at all. Took me months to find what i wanted.

Crap! Good catch- sorry about that, didn’t exactly run through all the details just quick searched by his area. He’s out in the sticks not many to choose from!

Another problem he’s dealing with right now is the used vehicle market is on fire, so that doesn’t exactly help

Another consideration. The current market around here and it seems everywhere else is hot for used Toyota trucks. When the virus is gone and people are spending money again.... there is a lot of pent up demand out there. New prices were way out of my market, used and good ones were hard to find now. Think about 6 - 8 months down the road.

^This. Anyone thinking you're going to get that truck for $10-12k is DREAMING and either hasn't been actively shopping the used market or are out of area where trucks are cheaper (and often worse condition).

I spent nearly a year looking for mine. DCLB Sport, fully loaded, 4x4, 190k. I paid $16k and although I don't like it, that's what market value is. If I hadn't put down a deposit on that day it would have been gone the following day. Resale on these trucks on the west coast is absolutely crazy. I missed out on multiple trucks that were selling immediately upon being listed. And the 2012+ trucks fetch an even bigger premium.

Now, with that said, I do think $16k is a tad high and there's no way that's a $20k truck here in SoCal. Assuming rust is a non-issue I have a hunch that it's a bit beat up in terms of dings, scratches, scuffs...etc. It looks like it's been a well used adventure truck and likely shows the wear for it. Doesn't look abused but does look well used. Note all the wear on the steering wheel, super dirty floor boards, looks like there are a couple flaws on the dash...etc. Not an issue from a utility standpoint but something to factor in when it comes to value.

$10-12k is what well used 1st gen and ragged out second gen Tundras are going for around here. They’ll have 200k+ miles and a hodgepodge of dorman/duralast replacement parts and the dents to match. Doesn’t even have to be 4x4.

I swear I'm going to list my Taco in california if I sell simply because they pull so much more. Pretty sure someone is willing to make a flight to buy a 2015 with under 3K miles.
