This is the most important thing .

It does no Good to just practice bad habits makes them much harder to correct.
It would have been better to say to say in these days .Quite a few years since 1969 Most every neighbor living in the country had one of those Lincoln Buzz boxes if they were real Lucky they had the AC/ DC version something was always needing welding

When I started Mig and Tig was just starting to get into the smaller fab and maintenance shops .

Like any new product so many old timers wanted nothing to with wire welding to them it was nothing but cold lap and not to be trusted.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
It's funny cause now the old guys don't trust TIG or think it doesn have any place in a small or personal shop. It's the most versatile process though haha

I have the machines to do DC and AC Tig if I really want I keep telling myself I am going to get some practice for a few years it just slips my mind .

The prep time is just to long for most of the things I do.

This old guy trusts all the processes done correct.

    Yeah you're right... Good points.
In general.... On top of that, a lot of times it's hard to truly help someone via the interwebs... For one it's so easy to not use the right words and or be misinterpreted etc etc..
Also it can be really frustrating for someone looking to get help on things such when it comes to "hand on" things in general..

I personally learn/teach better person to person and like to see and hear something, it's the way I learn/communicate best..

Really a good example, (at least from what it seems/ed to me) OP may have been getting frustrated at getting the answers he needed, I may be wrong but that's what I gathered... And for me to not be in person to try and explain something, can be hard because, in order to try and explain could take typing a essay, so then I become frustrated wishing I knew a clearer more precise way of helping. Because I have 5,000 other things going in my on life and head..
To be honest, I probably shouldn't attempt it haha.

yep, learned on the same machine. and at one time was seriously good with the gas axe, Bicycle spokes became a much used filler rod for gas welding, ran out of coat hanger and we had a old bent bicycle wheel handy so we tried the spokes.

have not done much MIG, but recently picked up a TIG and have been working at getting better with that. it feels good to once again have a small work area with some capability in it. forgot how much I missed fabbing stuff
