So Buckingham Greene was built in the late 1980s and was in the middle of scenic nowhere (still kinda is); As a result, the whole place has electric heat in the form of heat pumps. Some of the original 1988-1989 Bryant heat pumps are still there, but most have long since replaced...

Here, we see photographic proof of why standalone heat pumps are a bad idea in the northeast!

Snow isn’t gonna get here for over a day, but I started the Toro tonight and will do it again tomorrow after work to make sure I have no surprises when the snow actually does get here!

Also just took it to the end of the driveway on full power, and then back up the driveway to test its endurance; Auger still makes an awful noise when disengaged, and will likely have to be replaced after this season, but it seems to work fine for now...

Leaking from auger drive is nowhere near as bad as it was, and noise is almost nonexistent...

I've always preferred UPS over FedEx, but an incident maybe two years ago pretty much guaranteed that I'd never ship something with them again...

When I was working at Puck, my boss would have me run all sorts of errands for her while on the clock in addition to my usual barbacking duties; One time, I'm guessing right before Christmas in 2018, she sent me to FedEx to mail a shirt to her sister who lives in Nebraska. I mailed many packaged for my boss through both FedEx and UPS without issue, but then a parcel bomb exploded in one of FedEx's processing facilities; I believe at least one person was killed :(

One of their responses to this tragic incident was to check the ID of everyone shipping a package, even if the item being shipped clearly wasn't an explosive device or an otherwise dangerous items; I did not respond too kindly to being asked for ID, and accused the clerk of trying to "exercise control over me". This where I found out that this new policy had been instituted because of the explosion at the processing center...

My response was "Okay, but this is just a shirt and it's not even my package." The bureaucrat didn't give a shit, so I flat out told him that I didn't want to give him something with my address on it, and handed over my military privilege card; This has my name and picture on it, but not my address. I also about threw a fit when he told me that my "info" had to go on the shipping label in addition to my boss's name and address; I was assured that this didn't include my address, but only my name. Totally fucking pointless in my opinion...

The shirt was packaged up and shipped to Nebraska, and I haven't set foot in a FedEx facility since! UPS doesn't request my ID...

In case anybody didn't know, I have had a huge problem with handing over my ID to people unless it's to get into a bar because of an incident with Doylestown police back in March 2013; I got stopped for the "high crime" of walking around taking pictures, was asked for ID by the sergeant, and then repeatedly interrogated by three other cops including a plainclothes detective by the side of the road for like twenty minutes because of a string of break-ins in that area that I knew nothing about. This lead to a general disdain for law enforcement on my part that lasted more than six years, as up until that point in March 2013 I'd never had any interactions with police...

I encountered a DUI checkpoint in March 2017, and been pulled over on four different occasions between May 2017 and October 2020; The cop always says "License and registration" as opposed to "Can I see some some ID?" Even though I thoroughly back the blue now, whenever someone other than a bartender or a bouncer asks to "see my ID" or "see some ID" it triggers something in me, and I still have no idea what the hell that is!

And then another pet peeve of mine, as I recently told @ABA180 , is being repeatedly carded by the same employee at Wawa (or whatever convenience store) when I am a regular customer and they know it's me; Then there was the issue at that particular Wawa where I regularly bought multiple brands of cigarettes for my coworkers, and the busybody employees knew I was a nonsmoker, and would try to engage me in conversation about who the smokes were really for. I was never stupid enough to fall for it, and I stopped going to that Wawa on late night smoke runs altogether...
