The ultimate headlight upgrade H4 (not LED or HID)

This weekend will be go time for this upgrade and the ss3 pros that came in the mail today...

Also maybe if I can figure out the anytime fog light mod so it doesn’t throw codes on me. (Yes I have seen and read the thread)

 

you can for sure do that. It will give you a slightly increased output on whatever bulb you choose regardless. And you’ll have the option to go to a higher wattage bulb in the future, if you choose.

 

ive been struggling with that mod too. And seeing all the people that say it took them 15 minutes aggravates me even more about it haha.

 

With all due respect, you're over-thinking this. The harness will provide marginal benefit with stock bulbs. Upgrading to higher WATTAGE bulbs is what provides the real improvement.

LOTS of us have run this upgrade, some in multilpe trucks, for years with zero negative side-effects.

 

I think the “2.5” gens have an easier set up.

 

yeah they for sure do. I just struggled with getting a solid connection on some of the male terminals. So it didn’t ever stay put. I’m going to try and do it a bit more stealthy and remove the fuse box and come from underneath. Just need the time to get to it.

Which foglight anytime mod are you attempting? I'm not familiar with the wiring differences between earlier and later 2nd Gens, so forgive me if this one doesn't work for you guys, but ND4's Fog Light Anytime Mod... NO splicing, No Bending, 100% reversible works well (for at least some of us). Please ignore if that won't work for earlier 2nd Gens.

 

Check to see if your truck is wired for seat heaters, mine did and I used that terminal for the fog anytime mod. It’s a switched hot terminal, only on when the key is on.

 

Ive done both, that one only worth for 12+, which is what I ran on mine. Cant recall the details of the earlier one as we did it on a friends truck but wasn’t the same.

that’s the one I used. Our fog light relay is in the main compartment. And if you have it, the AC relay is in the small side box. My problem has been the male terminal that attaches to the green wire in the diagram won’t stay put. I think the male blade just isn’t long enough.

 

That thread is only for 12+. It won’t work on an 2007. You need a different version of the mod.

Anytime Fog Light Mod?

 

i have figured that out after different tries and poppin codes and losing my horn for a bit... think I’m gonna pull power off the radio fuse with an add-a-fuse

 

I’m saying all this and not being mechanically/electrically inclined doesn’t help. Lol.

people keep sending me charts and I’m like I don’t know what it’s trying to get me to do hahahahhaa

 

I think that’s the correct one for 05-11.

 

I just don’t want to splice into any wires or bend the relays. That’s why I haven’t used any other ones. Apparently, you can tap into the battery charge relay. Which is a switch 12v and in the main compartment. It’s used to charge trailer batteries I believe. If that doesn’t work. I think I’ll just deal with it as is.

So this is part of the problem. On my truck the first relay is in the main compartment. Not the little one to the side
