I do a side hustle on appliances.

Had a lady call for a new stove and advised her i didn't have my tools and they would probably fix it for free since it was new.

Ended up going there and her breaker was tripped.

Tried to charge her 40 and she gave me 100.

On the flip side, some people are "40 for you to flip a switch?!". In which i reply, you could have done it yourself....

HVAC contractor here, I've had to do tons of simple shit for people, like change an Air filter, or wash a condensor coil. My favorite is when someone says "I could have done that" is to ask them "Why am I here then?"

Stopped by the shop today. Overall, things are going well. Turbos are in, same with the downpipes. They're aiming for me being able to drive it around Wednesday to Friday. The tech working on it is also an instructor and the whole shop has multiple vehicles in there, so he can't work on it non-stop from 0800-1700 is my assumption. :notsure:

He said when everything's done he's going to give a detailed list of the stuff he had to cut/trim/modify and why, to help with future kits/installs.

Well I still don't have the spring in need so I talked to kinugawa and ordered a second one overnight ups because the first one appears to have disappeared so hopefully Monday I will finish everything up and have it on the road for some logging.

I've got my truck mostly tore apart. Getting pretty efficient at it.
So I'll be working on some instruction revisions and video.

Our next batch deatchwerks pumps finally arrived. Ordered months ago..

I know the shop got hammered with orders last month (a very good thing), do you think the remaining kits will roll out by year end?

I figure it was probably asked before, but is there any benefit in getting the upgraded fuel pump on a stock truck or is it only for forced induction?

Unless you're part of the recall, probably not. Only advantage would come from also having the controller.

I'm part of the recall *sigh*

Well if I can snag one at least I'll be one step closer to the TT lol

Maybe I am mistaken here, but you can't use this pump for the recall if you dont have the turbo and fuel controller from the kit.

Just a guess but this pump is not wired the same as the factory pump therefore it will not fuel properly. Our pump is a 4 wire input and this one is a 2 wire input. Mat knows the fueling system better than most so maybe he can explain better, but I'm thinking he is able to use this pump in this setup because his controller uses a larger range of dynamic voltage to control the pump using PWM through one positive wire, while the factory pump is using 3 different positive wires. Maybe a hi/med/low output?

Bottom line see his installation instructions below.

If your truck is not actively having a fueling problem dont worry about it. Toyota will replace yours for free anyway. Only a problem really if you are boosted and you suddenly go lean under full boost. N/A you'll probably just get some hesitation and maybe an eventual failure and a tow. Even then a recall doesnt mean every one will have a problem...just that some are, so they are replacing all in a series to be safe.

Mine is really close. Waiting on a new tune file and dealing with an oil leak on the oil pressure sensor adaptor.

In the short trips I have taken around the block it felt pretty good. Very controllable boost. I am excited to get it out and actually drive it. Unfortunately the last time I drove it the roads were snow packed so getting on it wasn't really an option and I'm being very conservative until the tune feels right and I can do some data logging.

In hindsight, what needs done on the oil tap? I’ve got permatex thread sealant for that area.

I used Teflon and I tried permatex neither one sealed it.

Mine was leaking too after start up. Pulled it back out and applied a good amount of Teflon.. no more leaks.
