It really was, l am very fortunate to have grown up having those experiences. The woods behind the houses on the top of the circle went all the way up to the next grouping of houses but it was a good ways, we would occasionally make that trek. Also found out there was such a thing as Railroad Police after having them pay a visit to the house, lol.

My neighbor was right; When you own a snowblower, you look for any reason to use it!

One thing I'm jealous of is that you live in the land of no car inspections; Safety inspections I agree with, especially in snowy states, but emissions tests are a crock of shit! I've had my Tacoma for more than eleven years and it's been inspected every year; Never failed an emissions test or a safety inspection! My mechanic told me that basically, as long as the CEL isn't on, it will pass...

However, my mechanic has low overhead and I only paid like $47.50 for my last state inspection and emissions test (Least I've ever spent)! My local dealer (Thompson Toyota) charges $60 for emissions, waives the safety inspection fee if there's nothing wrong with the vehicle, and includes a free loaner vehicle; Most private mechanics and shops charge a staggering $70-$80, which is why I stopped bringing my truck to my dad's old mechanic!

This supposed to be an "Aspergers" thread too, so here goes nothing...

One of the biggest issues people with Aspergers and other autism spectrum disorders experience is misunderstanding people when they speak in certain tones of voice; An even bigger issue is picking up on social cues, which is something I still struggle with from time to time...

Not long after I first started working at NAVMAR back in September 2019, I almost got into it with one of the accounting guys. I fill out my timesheets online, and I accidentally filled out Thursday instead of Friday; This was hardly a big deal, because it wasn't like I was getting paid for a day I didn't work. Needless to say, my supervisor changed it from Friday to Thursday, and as my supervisor he was able to resubmit my timesheet without my electronic signature. I knew nothing about this until the following Tuesday when the aforementioned accounting guy came into my office and started rather intensely chewing me out for submitting my timesheet without signing it. I had no idea what he was talking about, as I'd submitted the timesheet for that pay period, and it took a lot of restraint to not let loose on the accounting guy; Unless you are my boss, it is very ill-advised to confront me and start yelling at me, and several people have found this out the hard way over the last five years...

My dad is one of the VPs of NAVMAR, and his office is right down the hall from mine. I was utterly confused, because I had "electronically signed" my timesheet; My dad overheard this exchange of words, and the story quickly made its way to my supervisor. My dad took the accounting guy aside later on and explained to him that I have AS, and that I don't deal well with being confronted out of the blue, and also that I have a hard time "reading people"; My supervisor told the accounting guy that the unsigned timesheet was 100% his fault. The accounting guy is a good guy, but he is Philly born and raised and handles encounters in a way different than what I'm used to...

And then there was an argument with another guy in accounting because he didn't know the exact definition of "detailing a vehicle"...

I'd say I'm still suffering some form of PTSD from my ten months of working for slave wages at that shitty detail shop; My coworker was not happy when he found we'd spent something like $300-$400 to detail each vehicle once per year. He was thinking that because I'd worked at a detail shop prior to coming here, I was really good at detailing cars (I'm competent, but far from the best). The argument started when he wanted to do a full detail of each company van on my standard hourly wage; For the record, I am happy with my pay, but I told him that was not going to detail the company unless I got paid a lump sump per vehicle. This was misunderstood as a flatout refusal to clean the vans (which is in my job description) and conflict arose when he brought my supervisor into this conflict. Once again, my dad had to swoop in and help me...

    :annoyed:

Needless to say, I take the company vans and the CEO's Escalade to the car wash once a week where I also vacuum them; This I have no problem with because it is very easy to do. The vans are kept so clean by yours truly that they don't have to be "detailed"; The Escalade is professionally detailed once a year. I love detailing my own truck, but ten months of detailing at a dealership taught me that with the exception of vehicles belonging to immediate family members, I do not like detailing vehicles that aren't mine! :luvya:
