what was your budget. Plenty of them out there. You gotta pay the Toyota tax to get one in decent shape and all maintenance done.

25k, they’d get bought before I even got to look. I’m quite content with the GX actually. Don’t see the need in a 100 now.

Agreed. My communications with Budbuilt looks like they aren't really interested.

I bought my GX with bolt on MT sliders already installed. The mounting hangs a bit low and exposed for my liking. If I were given the choice, I would've purchased weld ons. I have the means and may just find a way to turn the current ones into weld ons.

    Agreed.

    Love my 1st Gen...
    Resized_20200717_193541.jpg

I wanted a 100 series when I first started looking, but you're right, it was hard to find a clean one for a decent price that didn't have 500k miles. Expanded the search a bit and landed on a GX470.

I have the 1st Gen, GX and now I feel like a triple locked 80 series would round out the collection nicely.

shit, $25k and you couldn’t fine one? I found half a dozen within 200mi for $15-17k that look to be in pristine condition.

I just stumbled on this thread. Selling my 3rd gen Taco after the holidays. Been scouting FJ Cruisers, 4runners and GX460's and GX470's. Now have 31 new pages to read but that is like 3 days of a 3rd gen thread. Looks like GX is the biggest bang for the buck so far. I have a lot of learning to do first.

The Taco has been paid off since 2018, is well modded an pristine with 25.5k miles, so I will have plenty of cash to buy. To be clear my priorities are (1) sell Taco (2) compare specs, features, pros, cons of GX, T4R and FJ (3) narrow down best value (4) begin searching. Going to be a lengthy process. I am retired so this will be the last large SUV for me. I have other newer low mileage vehicles so no rush to buy. I want the best bang for the buck with the lowest miles.

All 4 that you listed are all completely different animals. Not really apples to apples comparison for any of them. GX's are going up in price quite substantially at the moment, not really sure they would still be considered best bang for the buck IMO, especially if you want something low mileage (not really sure why miles matter, as maintenance and service history are more important IMO).

FJ is the worst bang for your buck out of those options.

    Agreed here.

The GX’s are still the best B4$ IMO simply for the V8’s and AWD vs. the V6 of the T4R.
