Hey guys looking for some amber fogs that can be mounted in the stock bumper. Would prefer a true amber vs yellow that I have seen on some.(no shade at those with yellows just personal preference) Feel free to chime in if you have some knowledge on the various amber options in comparison to the stock Off-road fogs.

I can't tell you if they are the brightest, but they are amber and have legal and OR options:
    https://www.diodedynamics.com/off-road-auxiliary-led/led-pods/ssc2.html?ledbulb_color=46

I just got a pair of the floods that I want to mount in the lower grille. Gotta figure out the mounting. I think it might just need a spacer?

IMHO, if you're only going to use them in true fog situations, you don't need to worry about legal versus OR? I have some LED drop-ins in my Stock fogs with some yellow Lamin-X. They work great in fog. Lamin-X has amber also.

But then, there are at ton of douchewaffles around here that run modded fogs 24/7.2

Dooooooood. You can do better than that.

Of course, I am talking about peeps running them with oncoming traffic.

Properly aimed SAE fogs won't have any glare to oncoming traffic and are fine to leave on 24/7. It sounds like yours create glare because you have LED bulbs in a halogen housing, throwing glare at oncoming drivers.

I've had the diode dynamics SS3 SAE fogs before and they're amazing bang for the buck. The output is phenomenal and they have a really crisp cut off. That said, they throw more of a yellow light.

OP, here some SAE OEM replacements that appear to be a true amber.

@RedDeadTaco has some of the morimoto ones for sale for $130. I'd ask him if he's willing to ship.

Is this an amber bulb or a H11 bulb with an amber cover on the fog?

I agree that mine would be bad for oncoming traffic. That is why I only use them in fog on empty roads.

Around here, way too many folks have HIDs and LEDs in reflector low beams and fogs and have them on all day and night. I won't even get into the peeps driving with the high beam pandemic.

There is one person that has a couple Subarus with LEDs in the DRLs, which Subby uses as high beams.

It is just a total disregard for others, which is a hallmark of the this area.

I can't stand people that drive around with a blatant disregard for blinding others. It's infuriating. And don't get me started on the twats that drive around with shitty LED lightbars on in the daylight.

That is starting to be a problem here also. Mainly low mounted ones that peeps think are fogs or something.

For an over-policed area for speed, the cops don't seem to care about lighting in the least. I've seen more than I can count driving past a speed trap with high beams on or bad retrofits.

From what I've seen the morimotos output in comparison to the KC ambers is pretty bad. Checked out the super in depth fog light thread on here while KC's are more expensive, I shouldn't need a true amber fog for most likely another 8 months.(will be moving out to Reno/Tahoe area from phoenix) I'm trying to have the mindset of measure twice cut once with this truck so I believe the KC G4 Ambers may be the route for a full replacement. Short term cheap option I'm debating is amber cover/drop in lenses on factory fogs for now.

I'm curious what you're looking to get out of this thread that you didn't already find in your research, since it seems like you've already read and looked around.

People with the comparisons and personal experience. Much more inclined to trust someone on here rather than a random article or site I've never heard of. And any issues from those on here who have had different types of fogs. I've had lots of parts on my families XJ that had stellar reviews but could not last more than two years.

Well i was just kind of kidding. I have the yellow Lamin-x "tint" on my stock fogs, making them a bit less brighter and just giving them a yellow light output.

Now, my buddy got these Bajas yellow fogs, he paid like 450$Can. You gotta be a fucking moron to run these unless its super foggy or its a whiteout. You cant even look at them when he turns them on.

The non sae baja designs pods are silly bright. Those would definitely blind oncoming traffic, but great when no one else is around.

Ive seen quite a few dickwads running light bars and super yellow fogs around here, when its completely unnecessary. Complete disregard for others.
