Yucaipa is a good place for a truck to be preserved. So Cal tends to pull premium prices because of this. There are as many opinions as there are states outside of California, especially the arid Inland Empire.

I bough my 01 in 09 for 12500 with 91k miles. Single previous owner, dealer records for various service items, including the T belt.
I sold it in 2015 for 14000 at 150000 miles. I had put full OME on it and a hitch with 7-pin. Also had a nice Snugtop. I had people driving by the house asking if they could buy it. They didn't even know it was for sale. One guy said 12, I said no. He immediately said 13...I still said no.

Yours appears to be a rare find for condition and records, but as an AT, it still would not pull the price that an Xcab with a 5-speed can.

In fact, the new owner called me just a few months ago because he was installing a brake controller and had a couple questions. He said he loves to death, and it drives like a Ferrari LOL. He's had it 5 years.
Just another data point for you.

I’m one of them that love the look of the dbl cab... I had 98 ext cab and a 02 ext cab both 4 cylinder in the past... I’ve never experienced the standard transmission in an ext cab though...

Good lord, I paid (a little) less than that in 2016 for a '04 4x4 TRD/supercharged with only 24k miles on it.

Prices are getting absolutely insane on these things

I believe the double cab 4x4 TRDs were closer to $28k back then but I might be off. Anyway $22k is WAY too high for that truck with 167k mile even for California prices. I would expect to see that listed at $13k or so, maybe $15k on the high end just because it's a double cab.

But covid economy is creating all kinds of weird high used car prices right now, I would wait for things to get more normal again or look outside of CA for one.

The logic of this escapes me.

Like why are prices so high because of covid? You'd think that if anything, people would be blowing them out the door for rock bottom prices because they are desperate for money because they haven't been allowed to go to work.

I think we just have a bunch of wives who are all of a sudden home all the time, and telling their husbands to sell their dumb trucks. So husband puts it up for a ridiculous price so he can say at least he's *trying* to sell it.

There may just be an influx of that happening lol. I don't get it either but for some reason Tacomas especially have been getting crazier than ever resale value right now.

I think the double cab TRDs probably added another couple grand on top of that, so maybe around $25 - $26k out the door on those

Someone with a dub cab hopefully has their old sale sticker lying around
