Ha ! Thanks, you had me worried. :). I totally understand your point. I've had two trucks in my life (three if you count the Ford Ranger I had in high school, but let's not go there!) -- a 2005 Tacoma and now the 2020 TRD OR.

I am basically interested in two things on the forum:

    1) Solving problems that I face as I want to do things with my truck. With limited mechanical skills I have learned alot from the folks here. When I wanted to find a way to transport bikes, I found out about tailgate pads here -- crazy but we don't have them here in NY. Never heard of them before. But that has turned out to be the best way to transport our bikes for limited off road bike riding. I am also learning a lot about recovery points. Some really smart people here and as we travel into the Adirondacks and Quebec (when the border re-opens) I want to be able to pull people out of the snow -- something I do a lot of. Based on good knowledge here I think I now have a strategy. Also good research -- with experience -- on a roof rack strategy. So to me this has been invaluable. Especially given that in NY we are not a hot bed of the mod world.

    2) The business of buying, selling and manufacturing trucks. I am fascinated by the blend of the industry, people buying trucks, financing them and how that plays into people's overall car and financial strategy. I freely admit that is probably not the whole point of this forum, though, so I am guilty on that front.

But we are now living in a world where trucks have moved from work vehicles to full on fashion statements, especially for men who do not golf ! (I kid). I am old enough to remember when a Ford 150 was a contractor's vehicle and now I now several people who live in NYC (!) that have 150s for driving to the suburbs to go to farmer's markets and nothing more.

Honestly, I think the forum is a great resource that would be vastly improved if people just scrolled by posts that they didn't find relevant. But that is the Internet and we are too far gone for that to change.

Bruh, people sure do complain a lot on TW. Has that changed since back in the day?

100% was not like that or near a fraction as much. Hence my earlier reply when someone asked how the forum has changed.

I fit in this dynamic. I got a truck this time around instead of a larger SUV to use the bed for spring/summer home projects. Could I have fit it in an SUV? Sure, but I wanted a truck. Everything else is pretty spot on except I'm not getting a lift...maybe. I mean, I might but it will be a smaller lift and I go through the Caribou Coffee drive through everyday, not Starbucks.

Ever notice how on every thread of someone having a question, 3/4 of it is sarcasm and not actually helping the op?

That shit is annoying when I search up something and have to sort through pages and pages just to get my answer. No wonder people keep making new threads on the same topics.

Still, tw is better than some of the other forums I've been on. Like sports car forums, those are disasters.

Think this is the lamest of them all, not even functional and copying off a vehicle that has them to satisfy DOT requirements, ultimate bro mod imo.

I love my 4 Raptor Lights. I don't actually have them yet because USPS is a bit behind, but when I do I shall love them. They do seem to be one of those things that people either love or hate, no middle ground.

Whenever I see a GMC that's what I think - braces and what not. BAM CHROME!

And it's your truck, so do what makes you happy, for me I'm just don't get the need to look like a raptor, but I also find the F150 guys that are driving XLs with raptor grilles to be lame too. Now get off my yard! lol.

Yeah I'm trying some things and may take them off. Putting them on to see if they grow on me. I had a Jeep prior to this and I got the nickname "stickers" in my office because I do like a good decal.

LOVE THIS!! I'm a simple old horse guy - who truly enjoys the Tacoma - I certainly appreciate folks wanting to get out and wanting comfort, but I do worry that many are going into debt (roof tents and such) when a simple set up will do. We often have boys out to our farm and teach Ax Throwing, knife skills, horseback riding, simple camping, etc. Many of these boys boys can not afford much at all and we we show them you do not need an an Osprey Pack, Titanium Cookeware, Nemo Down Sleeping bags, etc to enjoy the outdoors. My son has all the names/items I've mentioned and I did spoil him as he was growing up - but I could afford it. However he has always been careful to give back to his community (like teaching the boys the skills I mentioned). My son is 19 now and heading off to college - he is financially on his own at that point. This picture reminded me of the simplicity he and I talk about. I'm ranting but when I saw this it just looked FUN. I certainly do not mean to assert that anyone that is into 'overlanding' with all THE gear is wrong - just you CAN do it fairly cheaply. This pic is on our farm (by the river) with a group of boys. We had horses down there too - the boys just enjoyed it so much!!!
