I'm probably in the minority on this one but I hope we get more snow than predicted. I'm currently in an area forecast to get 12-18" & I'd happily welcome more. I really want to play with this truck in the snow. Of course I will change my tune on this if my snow blower doesn't start when I get home tonight. Otherwise, bring it on, the more the better.

I've found fogging it every year prior to putting away helps. Plus ebay carbs are like $40 and generally pretty easy to swap out. I don't even bother re-building or tuning mine anymore. I just swap a new chicom fleabay carb onto it and keep rolling. At least for my early 90's snapper blower. What it really needs is some new skid shoes as mine are metal and one has a big hole in it where it's worn through. And the damn scraper is so worn it doesn't scrape anymore...

x2, except I switched to Startron fuel enzyme and haven't touched the carb in a very, very long time. I don't fog them, don't use Stabil, just gas with Startron crap in it.

I picked up these plastic sliders that work really well. Mine were also metal and shot. The scraper is also shot but part of my driveway is gravel so I keep the skids set low so I don't pick up rocks. I park the truck on the gravel side and try to avoid snowblowing altogether. I just pack it down with the truck to build up a nice ice base.

Startron is what I have been using in my equipment for years. Seems to work well. Make sure to store the tank as full as possible and NEVER run the carb dry. Very VERY bad idea to run the carb and lines dry of fuel, especially a small carb like a snowblower.

I don't care, I'm working from home. Bring it on. Depending how it progresses, if I get up around 5 on Thursday and clear some snow and it's in good shape and won't dump after that, I'd take the truck out to get to work and have some fun with it  but I sure as shit am not going to leave for work at a normal time. First snow of the year, RI drivers? Not a chance in hell.

That's exactly what I do. I keep 2 - 5 gallon cans full in the garage and I use them for the lawn mower, snow blower, dirt bike and generators. I used to dump them into the truck every so often just to keep fresh fuel but my wife's car will have to take on that honor now. I always keep things full, less room for condensation.

In sort of winter-related news, I bought a high idle kit for the truck also, we'll see if it makes any difference during the cold mornings.

I run ethanol-free super no lead in all my equipment. Never have a problem w then sitting half the year.

Chainsaw, snowblower, weed whacker, you name it, it gets ethanol-free.

That would be preferred but ethanol-free is hard to find where I live. I know I can get it at the airport (no thank you) but nothing really close to me. Easier to run the enzyme and not worry about it.

I use 93 in my snowblower and lawnmower. And the pre-canned ethanol free pre-mix for my weedwacker and leaf blower. I like fogging my stuff prior to putting it away, but I also use startron in every tank as well for the snowblower and lawnmower. Fogging just gives me an extra warm and fuzzy that the carb will stay nice and lubricated and gunk free inside.

Yall do too much snowblower work lol. I've got the same snowblower my dad has had for 15+ years. Change the oil every year and thats it. Run regular 87. Never use stabil or any additives for that matter. Poulan Pro :)

Yeah, that sort of proves the point around me. Looks like there are a couple small engine repair places sort of near by that sell it now, but no stations to fill cans at. The airport one didn't seem to show up anymore on that map, that's odd...
That's about my flavor. I have a small driveway, I have no business owning a snow blower and wouldn't have bought one for my driveway. I inherited my cousins old one because he traded in for a monster. It was about 15 years old when I got it and pretty neglected. I changed the oil, belt, sliders, cleaned the carb and it's run like a champ ever since. I've had it for over 10 years now, I keep spraying over the rust so it's a solid 4 colors now (redneck camo). The thing's a beast also, it out throws my neighbor's new Toro which he isn't overly pleased about...

I winterize and use startron cause the gas with ethanol is junk. I have not changed the spark plug or oil in my snowblower in a few years though:anonymous:

I got mine off craigslist for like $100 cause it wasn't running. I tried to get it going there, it was clearly the carb. Bought it, and 1 $40 ebay carb later it fired right up. It's nice cause I don't feel too bad when I jam thing into the plow pile at the entrance of the driveway to clear it.

If it ain't broke... I didn't change the oil this year on it either. Sort of forgot since it only ran for about 30 minutes last season. I haven't touched the plug since I inherited it so 10 years-ish. Might be time.

Exactly. I feel like last few years paled in comparison to when i picked it up in 2011. Total hours use over the past few years has been very low.

Glad I got my dinky little electric toy. 50 bucks on Craigslist. Plugs in. Works really well actually. I have a 3 car driveway to clear. A gas blower is just overkill. And I’d need a place to store it too.

I do the same. Stewart's has it so I can just go over the border to VT or NY and fill my cans.

My driveway is pretty small too. It'd fit maybe 8 cars. I mostly use the ATV to clear it which is really overkill, but it's the most fun method.
