Is 5.29 gears too much?

You can call nitro directly and tell them your use case. 5.29s seem to be always recommended for autos, running on stock tire sizes is fine as well.

 

Yeah your really stuck in the middle with 33s you can make a case for either gear set just depends on the end goal. I am getting 5.29s and running 33s. I dont have all the armor and weight yet but I don't feel like having to regear again down the line when I do.

 

No haven't corrected the speedo, here in Idaho 80MPH is the norm.

What do you think about 32's with a good bit of weight?

 

I do notice that my spedo is 3-5MPH less than what my radar says...

My only concern is going on a road trip to camp somewhere far away and doing 3500rpms the whole ride at 80mph.

 

I take the posted speed limit as more of a recommendation than a rule

My truck shit ton of weight 4.88's and the tune are working for me. But if the 5.29's were out when i did my regear i would have done the 5.29's

 

What size tires?

 

I'm also heavy...ARB front bumper, topper, 2.5 ADS shocks, and tools in the rear. Before the tune I wished I had 5.29's but glad I have 4.88's when I'm on the highway. My last trip in the midwest I was getting close to 23 MPG on the flat highway doing 65 to 70 MPH.

I mean, if you have all of that and feel fine with 4.88's I should do alright too...I guess its just a matter of which gears I find lol

 

I was just going to say if you drive it smart you can still get 20's MPGs i can if i keep it at 65

 

Whats crazy is how under utilized 6th gear is from factory. The fact you can add that much weight and still get epa rated mpg
