Constant power from head liner

So I’m trying to re wire my new BD rocks from @memario1214 into my @MESO BD5 3rd brake as my previous lights stopped working. It’s suggested I add a relay into the wiring to keep the rock lights from dying. Tried grabbing power from rear window but it’s not constant. Does anyone know which wire off maps that is constant I can grab to run a relay for my bed lights and brake lights? Help us much appreciated as my truck is dismantled and I need to get it back. I don’t have a test light so I’m trial and error ing with just a rock light to see if it comes on...HELP!! Haha

 

Yes sir. Need to replace some tools from my move a couple years ago. That is another among them.

Isn't the whole point of running a relay because the OEM wiring is undersized? Unless I'm missunderstanding you'd grab constant from the battery with your own wiring?

 

It’s just me misunderstanding the need for the relay I’m sure it’s not you haha. So guess I’ll have to wire from engine bay back for my power. Can I still use ground off the stock 3rd brake light plug or no?

So yeah then, just run a wire to batt and let the og wire run the relay? There's a ground in the B pillar no?

 

@caribe makaira Maybe R44 pins 15 & 22? I think those are (+) for the lights which, I think, should have a constant 12V.

 

The #15 is from the dome illumination relay, so that's a no. #22 is it's dimming ground, that's a no also. Plus the wire size.

Connector IN1 has Hot fused circuit, if the vehicle does not have the sliding roof.

It takes a 090/2.3II terminal.

Nope, unless you're going to add lights that exceed the 20A.

 

Without having the correct pin to connect cut and solder connection or is a snap splice just as good there since it’s not exposed to much of anything?

Well now that I know there’s a constant 12V (20A) in that pillar... I’ve got some ideas for myself

 

Think my wires are different. My plug looks different from yours also and that wire doesn’t seem to be hot
