Thanks for the information. I know Katzskins are not all leather but any idea what their answer would be if you asked them, where they use leather on their seat covers, do they only use "full-hide genuine leather"?

MBTex back in the old days was indestructible. You could pull a 70s 300D out of the junkyard and the seats would still look excellent. I would rather have cloth than leather if keeping a vehicle more than 5 years. Most 10 year old interiors with leather look like trash.

My parents have a 2012 gl450 with mbtex around 60k miles both front seats
The vinyl is cracking. Mine gl550 with real leather I kid you not was perfect. Gm trucks with leather garbage. Go check out a 10yo Lexus with leather it’s still like butter. A lot of the quality is dependent on the brand obviously
I bought my Tacoma with leather and manual transmission. I wouldn’t have bought it without both.

I just think it's pretty damn cool to have real hide in a Toyota. I had hide in Mercedes, Lexus but didn't have hide in Toyota until the '05 Tundra Limited.
    2005.driver.seat.jpg 2005.driverside.interior.jpg

It's not for everybody because it requires care and conditioning. My '08 Limited 4Runner I bought used has real hide seats and they look like new, bolsters and all. The PO had maintained them.

The '07 Limited 4Runner had real hide also but the PO hadn't maintained them as well, the driver bolster was worn from ass-sliding. My 2001 Lexus GS300 bought used showed driver bolster wear also with real hide, it's all about care and conditioning.

Winter and summer temps don't bother me. I have tinted windows and a windshield sunshade.
