I dont know man, my truck is super comfortable, even on long trips. I love it. Im 5'11" and 215#, maybe thats why, medium size dude. Will agree on plastic on doors is very easy to scratch, but it does not bother me one bit. I did drove 2 different AT tacos and they drove perfectly fine, I dont understand the complaint. Are you just echoing what you are reading on here?

Lack of power? Ha! Did you drive a 3rd gen? Never for a second i thought this truck lacks power, its got great passing power and its great off the line even on stock tune. Now with the tune, its even more fun to drive, thanks Mr. OVtune. IMO its very quick for a 4400# truck. You want to know lack of power? Go drive a 2007 4.0 Ranger and report back sir.

You cant compare domestic full size to a japanese mid size. Domestics have always been more luxurious, but they lack in reliability department. Been like that ever since I can remember. Although, my ranger was an amazing rig, was very reliable but those little guys were built like tanks and were very simple machines. I still miss it and wish i could have kept it.

Im not defending toyota or anything, i mean i do love my taco. If toyota did not offer MT, i would have got a frontier PRO4X. My buddy had the Frontier 4x4 nismo 6spd and that thing was amazing.

I have been thinking the same! Bed roll, fart sack and a poncho hooch would do the trick! Long bed with a cap as well for those under 6'.

I am in NY. I ain't waving at anyone ... and if anyone gives me a wave, I am checking to make sure the doors are locked and popping the truck into 4WD and getting ready for armageddon.

    Too long?

I bought a truck because I needed a truck, not a sports car. I bought a Tacoma because it's the best of everything I need in a truck - reliable, not too big (full size in a garage sucks), looks good, easy to work on myself, comfortable (for me), and comes in a manual because I like shifting my own gears. And I liked the Voodoo Blue because it wasn't black/gray/silver/white like 90% of the other vehicles on the road today. Needed a little color in my life.

The only "upgrades" I plan on are interior soundproofing, seat covers, and stereo/speakers. Already ditched the lame shift knob, however.

I do agree that one needs to pick through the forums here a bit to find actual useful info, but it's not nearly as bad as other automotive forums I have been on. I just ignore the trolls. They can do whatever they want to their trucks - it's their money....

And it carries 5 bikes and 5 people and gear with ease. This is what it has been doing pretty much every weekend when it's not hauling project lumber or other stuff.

As I've gotten older - I'm not much of a fan of the cold weather either - that pic is at the back of our property. I will leave my truck there and let someone sleep in the tent (with air mattress) and I'll head up - on horse or Mule (Kawasaki - LOL) - to the warmth of the house. I usually do most of my camping on our property or near....my son goes all over (out to CO, NM, KY, NC all over our state of TN) - but he does the 100 mile trips (on foot!!)...that's actually why he has such expensive gear. I'm getting older - if I do 100 miles - even in the truck - I usually have to stop and pee. Sounds like you are enjoying life!!!!!!

I'm one of the few that like chrome - but just a bit. To me it is like, make up on a woman...I like a little - but there is a fine line between a woman with nice make up and a clown (I chose my words carefully as there is mixed company on this forum).

20201216_072346.jpg I was going to replace my chrome grille surround with a black genuine Toyota part while keeping the black egg crate grille.....till I found out the damn thing was $130.00 so screw that I then decided to remove it sand it down with the tought if painting it satin black & hopefully it sticks (fat chance I know) after 5 minutes of 320 grit I realised something cool as hell! It started to look like billit aluminum! No shit I spent the next 2 hours sanding this thing & finishing it up with red scotch brite to get the grain scratches in the same direction & WALLA I now have what looks like a Billit aluminum grille surround that honestly looks trick as hell.

There is a lot to be said for the more basic camping. I used to set up a tent or shelter and hang out in the same spot for a week. Hike around, cook and enjoy being there. I've been doing the RTT thing for a few years now, and I fell into the trap of feeling like I had to move every day. It became exhausting, so we started to get more stuff to make the other things easier, like a stove and roll up table. Turns out, those were the things I really enjoyed about camping. 20141114_143214.jpg

I did the exact same thing back in March. Went to paint it but ended up leaving it. I'll probably change to 20 grill at some point. Like the looks of the Bro gill but its played out.

Not gonna lie, I've hit my knee on the edge of the dash a few times getting in. Never thought of making a thread about my stupidity though. If I did I'd be here making threads all day.
