What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

No Sh**! This is the third time I have heard of one of our engines just blowing up. No abuse either, just kaboom. Never heard of that issue with the 2nd gen motors. Slightly disappointing to say the least.

I got my bump stops installed and the limit straps today. Looks like this new 3 link design is going to work. Get 16” of travel , keep your stock gas tank, no frame cutting ,uses no bed space all fits under the rear fenders. All built with 2” DOM 1/4 wall tubing. 42” lower control arms with wobble stoppers. 10” King coil overs.

 

Just ordered these wheels and will be wrapping them with WildPeak A/t3w tires 275/70r17

I’ll be putting everything on with my lift next Wednesday hopefully!

Working on a flush mount custom comms upgrade for the 3TPAM. Its been a decent amount of work/parts to get it to look and work just how I want. Should have the install/process video up by this weekend. Terrible quality sneak peek pic.

Toyota sells a windshield warranty for $600. It covers the windshield replace or repair for 5 years. It was worth it to me as Montana uses sand/gravel on the roads in winter. I go through a windshield every couple years.

 

Your insurance doesn't cover windshield replacement? I guess it must vary state by state. In MA this is covered without any upcharge.

Most insurance covers glass damage with no copayment. As it was explained to me when I picked up my new Tacoma yesterday, the Toyota windshield warranty mainly is for recalibrating the sensors after the glass is replaced, assuming your car insurance doesn't cover the recalibration. This sounds dubious to me. In any case, I turned it down like I turned down every extended warranty. It's a bad bet. The $600 you'd pay for the premium would cover at least one recalibration. What are the chances you'd have more than one windshield replacement in 5 years? Things like this are what you self-insure for. Set the money aside for your own truck emergency fund.

 

The chances are high lol. I am on my second windshield in 3 years and it’s already filled with chips, I have just been using rainx chip repair/filler every time now and it seems to work pretty well, but if I had windshields covered I’d have it replaced. At least I don’t have any sensors etc though.

 

Does this void your warranty?

 

Nothing will void your warranty unless an installed component requires modifications that you can't undo, such as chopping and welding the frame. Rotrex (they make the heart of the URD supercharger kit) provides a warranty on their parts and any damage that may come due to their installed parts.
