I finally found a local dealer to complete this TSB and the results are amazing! Any OR trucks out there that want to get rid of ridiculous throttle delay and crazy shift points GET THIS FREE UPGRADE. My regular dealer kept telling me this is how the truck drives and dismissed me. I kept reading this great resource TACOMAWORLD and called around to service departments. I found a Boston area service dept that had no problem completing the upgrade. Thank You All for always providing great info on this board and have a Great Holiday.

Probably been covered before, but the 2021's don't need any ECU updates correct?

Curious as well, my 2020 OR built in early Feb has never done this and I know what to look for coming from a 16 and 17.

Usually not, some TSBs are incorporated into production, guessing this was incorporated just like it was back in 18/19 on the last transmission logic TSB update.

Just curious, I bought a 17 not too long ago and have no clue what previous owner did and didnt do. Is there anyway to check what version I'm on and once I do find out, can I simply take it to a Toyota dealer and have them update it?

So on my 2019, when I hit the gas it has a delay and then jerks as it shifts down ... craziest thing! So that's suppose to fix that?

Unless you have the software at home to do so (techstream), to verify you'd have to take it to Toyota. Have you noticed any erratic shifting or hanging on to gears? That would be a clue and reason to push for the update, though I believe you still need to be within warranty time frame to get it free of charge.

I've noticed it doesn't drive the smoothest on highway or mountain passes. Previous car was a jetta gli with a dual clutch so don't know what's normal in the truck world and what's not. Not something a code reader from o Reilly could find out?

    Maybe, depends on the reader.

My 2020 has a Feb build date as well. I don't believe my truck is doing what others are saying. However, I haven't driven in a truck that did. That I am aware of. Plan on visiting a local parts store today and borrow their OBD scanner and verify my ECU version.

Do you have techstream software, don't think you can see which version just from the OBD reader itself, I've only used mine for codes and bought back in 2012, so maybe they're more advanced now, lol.

Some do, if not all. There's a few threads where people take pictures of their reader's displaying the ID.

Ya I edited that post, realizing last time I used my code reader I bought in 2012 was years ago and they're probably a bit more advanced now.

Copied from another thread about the TSB Upgrade.

"Mind if I ask what scanner you use that shows this info?
I'm going to be looking for a new "budget" scan tool and would be interested in knowing which ones display this info.
    TIA!
I recently purchased one just for this same purpose:

$46 LAUNCH X431 OBD2 Scanner Creader V Plus Car Code Reader Diagnostic OBDII Leak Detection Tool
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZYTDKP3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

You can also go to Auto Zone and use their OBD2 Scanner to read your ECU ID, for free :)"

Based on a thread about the ECU upgrade, others have used a borrowed scanner to verify. I will try and get back.

For when I run errands later today: Which TSB file is the most up to date as of right now?
