I dont mind a bit of chrome, thats why i left my chrome badges on my truck. I think it looks good with black paint.

Too many mods and I haven't even started yet..
Wow.. I've been around automotive enthusiast forums for a LONG time, and I've seen this played out over and over and over. Whenever a vehicle becomes popular the noise to signal ratio of the forum takes a nosedive. The problem is that it isn't JUST the fault of the newbies. You get some shitposting from some newbies that don't know how to integrate with the community. You also get shitposting from some oldtimers that don't like the new ideas that the newbies bring. The muck-flinging comes from BOTH sides.

It's OK if someone doesn't build their car/truck the way you would. It doesn't invalidate your build. User999's pavement princess isn't any less legitimate than User001's rock hopper. As long as both love their truck (and doesn't endanger other drivers on the road *cough*stance*cough), does it really matter?

For the oldtimers, give advice where warranted, and leave the shit threads that bug you alone. Why bring that stress into your life? By engaging in threads that bother you, you're actually making them hang around on the front page longer.

For the newbies, the oldtimers here know a LOT more than you. Listen to them, consider what they say because they've seen the results first-hand. If you want to go against their advice, that's ok, just do it well-informed. Hell, I just bought a TRD Pro for towing a MR2 that I race in the dirt; I certainly pave my own path. But I dredge this forum for every little bit of knowledge I can so I can do so with all the information at hand. That way I know what I'm risking/giving up by not following conventional wisdom.

(To be fair, I did see this truck come back muddy a few times)

But ultimately, the shitposting only comes from a small percentage of the forum's users. The vast majority are just looking for information about the truck/car they love and will happily go about doing what they want with it. Let's be more like them.

Lol, yep 2nd mod I ever did was plasti-dipping my emblems and wheels on my 08, was pretty acceptable back in the 2nd gen days, now its considered faux pas.

Don't care at all, someone asked how the dynamic changed in the forum, opinions were given. You want your truck to look like an AutoZone special or mall crawling douche canoe brodozer, go right ahead, but if asked my thoughts about it I'm gonna be honest.

These two items cost $65 and $15 respectively, plus it looks better, so the more people buying the grills the more grills they will make and the cheaper they will be. This isn't surprising in the least.

To be fair, it was the sales guy that brought it up first. His exact words:

"This is the first Lunar Rock we have gotten. Would you like for me to take a photo of you standing next to it? I'm sure it would make a popular post on TW and Insta...."

The results/answers are there. Search better? IDK what to tell you, I'm certainly not a veteran of this forum but it's the same way on most any public forum with heavy traffic. If the question being asked or info being looked for did not already exist, no one would be annoyed/frustrated.

Also, why is SR access cab the only usable Tacoma?

I think it’s mainly about styling.

I struggle to see the appeal of the 3rd Tacoma after owning one for 4 years.

Only after 3 re-tunes (one New OEM tune and 2 OVtunes) was I even remotely satisfied with the basic forward movement of the vehicle.

I sold mine already and I bought GX 460 and a second gen extended cab is on the way. Both vehicles are better value in my mind. Frankly, both give me better confidence in reliability.
