My factory one has leaked since day 1. I'd say it lets in about 10 percent of the rain

I have a factory cover...it leaks but not badly. Just a couple spots get a 1/4 cup of water puddled up.

I have noticed closing tailgate first then shutting the tonneau down onto it seals better.

i have not read the whole thread so apologies if already suggested.
i don't have an OEM cover but when i installed my generic 3rd party cover, i noticed some leakage. at night, i put a bright light source outside the truck bed, especially near the cab, and climbed in the bed,
under the cover, and discovered where rain was getting it, especially when driving. i remember gluing some closed cell foam blocks in areas near the cab, under the caps. i'm not talking about the bulkhead rail gaps. there are other gaps in the corners near the cab. terrible design of bed if it was intended to be water proof. it does really well now.

I have a Diamondback, but before that I had an Extang.

I noticed a small amount of water I thought was entering near the cab, but was not an issue since it stayed below the bed mat.

I sealed the tailgate and it's now gone. Makes me think the issue is at the tailgate, bit may pool near the cab if your truck nose is down a little.

For the record, I have a winch so bumper weighs down up front.

I believe the hard covers are considered “water resistant“ but not so much “waterproof“. Mine is fairly dry under normal circumstances. If we have a crazy crazy heavy duty rain I have a few drip marks if I open it up on the bed pad. But nothing major

Take it off and throw it in the nearest dumpster. Problem solved.

I get water in the tailgate when it is driven in the rain or after I wash it. I added some rubber molding to the inside area where it meets the tailgate and that fixed it. I removed the shims also in the middle section and that took care of the drips in the middle, never had the leaks up by the cab area. Now its a great seal, maybe a few drops here and there. Nothing to worry about, it wasn't really bad to begin with.

Does your Diamondback leak? I plan to get one.

It does not leak front the front or sides. I spend allot of time adjusting the closed pressure so it would be tight, but still be able to close with one hand. I recently added the Extang bed seal since I would have water in the corners near the bed. Seems to work well but I cannot say 100%.

Move your bed cleats, they may be lifting the tonneau cover (close the cover and use a flashlight to see if they contact)

Imo, if the cover had been installed right, you shouldn't have any leaks...at least anything to write home about. Been 9 months my factory tonneau cover has been on...if anything i think it has settled to seal even better. I've had a few inches of snow melting on it...no leakage underneath. Bed insides are completly dry.

Too many mods and I haven't even started yet..
I don't have the hard tonneau to check, but maybe some camper tape along the underside would help? Just spitballin here.

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it! But the slight leak doesn't bother me. I don't really expect something like this to be 100% water-tight over a long period of rain, just water resistant.
Anything I want to remain 100% dry goes into my boxes.

I mainly only store things which are able to get wet in the bed. I also use it for camping and had read that the cover was only water resistant so I bought two 50gal tubs for gear/clothes/food stored in the bed. That’s my short term solution until I buy a topper and build a camping setup

I don't have a specific write up on this but I made a few adjustments that made mine almost completely waterproof. Each of the latches on the underside of the cover have a small plastic cover. Pop those off. The actual latches are bolted down to the cover but under the latches are little spacers. If I remember correctly I had 1 spacer under each latch for the front two thirds of the cover, and 2 spacers under the rear most section. I played around with a combination of taking certain ones off, and eventually I got a good combination of spacers that pulled the cover tighter to the bed. I also swapped some of the spacers between the back and front etc to get a good combination. Just play around with it until it fits tighter. The rearmost section on mine requires a good slam to close fully with 2 clicks, but if it doesnt get the second click, press firmly like 2 inches back from the seal and it'll click the second click, locking it completely down.

Hope this helps. If anyone is interested I'll go take pics and make a short write-up.
