There are some guys here that have done KAT and had an ok camping spot. Just a patch in the woods really.
Maybe @dirty deeds knows how to find it.

I'm up for the KAT. I went elk hunting in KY a few years ago and wouldn't be surprised if I was on, or very close to some of it, some pretty cool areas....although I'm not sure if we'll make it that far south but I'm open for whatever.

Same Same about Jan/Feb....I'll bring the saw. :sawzall::bananadead: (getting creative with the emojis lol)

I think camping in the bush on the KAT with 8 trucks could be a difficult time. I was thinking we strategically setup a few nights at different campgrounds and give them a heads up we're coming. Callie's campground would be a good one for example

If you've got that 85, and don't mind rocks, trees, and mud, then you're good to go. Your Chevy would do fine on most the green/easy trails, more than adequate to drive around at an event, but Cody's right. They pack em in tight!
Plenty of space (not during and event) to primitive camp, they've got shitters at the main parking area, no running water.

I'm about 30 minutes from the park, always late to arrive when we set a time, but I'll come wheel with ya! :)

.....you've been wheeling with us before.... always goes as planned
Don't think I've ever done the KAT exclusively. We had some random spots around Red River Gorge in the past, though. They were quite nice.
But if one could find where these other folks camped, I'm sure @MedlinAround or @Breezy or myself can find it.

The 85 is built for the hammers and will stay in CA for the time being, at least until I buy a house and accept the reality that mud comes with the territory of wheeling somewhere other than the desert.

I am so down to ride passenger and pitch in if there’s a group meet at some point. The Silverado is really just a tow pig and current daily driver. Its 4x4 is mainly for getting to/from camp sites when towing the 85.

Alright this is what I'll do.. I'll map out something starting at the gorge and share it in a new thread or something. I think 6-8 rigs max.
I'll have my back seat delete done by then so I have 1 seat which might be filled by a buddy of mine. If not, my seat is open.
I recommend gaia and the KAT GPX file. I also use ham and not cb

Since there will be a limited amount of spots, can we get a minimum requirements list to cull out those of us that probably shouldn't go?

    Good call...

The KAT is usually pretty tame - i wheeled it in a totally stock OR on 33's for over a year with minimal damage and 0 experience :anonymous:. However, I'd highly recommend 33's, a lift, and some armor - sliders, skids, bumpers - Recovery gear, winch/traction pads.

I have 33 MT's, OME BP51's, full steel skids, sliders. front steel bumper. I'm missing my rear bumper after knocking it off lol.

MT's are a good call out because the KY mud gets pretty deep in the winter months. it's wet out there

And you must be willing to scratch the ever-loving hell out of your rig...
