I think you become a “well known member” after like 50 posts or something. Anyway, point taken. Lot of keyboard warrior shit on the internet in general...

You need not be sorry! I show up as a "well-known" member and I promise you I am as much a rookie, noobie, etc. as you are -- maybe even more so.

My advice. Come to the forum. Ask your questions. Seek the information you are looking for. And, frankly, just ignore anyone that is not helpful or negative. To be fair, I don't see a lot of well known members who have a distaste for people like you ... I've never experienced that myself and I have asked a lot of dumb questions, believe me !

Sure there have been some real jerks now and again but overall I have found the people here to be more than generous with their time, super knowledgeable and very helpful.

I do agree with you on the search engine though ... and I do the same thing you do by using Google and adding TacomaWorld. It seems to help.

But do yourself a favor ... keep coming ... keep asking ... keep learning ... and just scroll by the negative posts. The whole forum would be better if people just ignored the posts or discussions that they didn't find useful or necessary.

Because it has the 6 foot bed, I feel like the smaller bed is useless to be able to throw anything big into. I hate the trend of the entire truck industry towards double cabs and smaller beds. Trucks are trucks. Not family vehicles.

I'm a "well known member" and I don't know jack shit about these trucks. I've only had mine for a few months. Keep on keeping on and learning up!

6' bed access cab is available in SR5 and TRD trims and they even have a 6' bed double cab, just FYI.

I think it can all be in good fun. The mods here are amazing at filtering the real trash from the dumpster before any combustion takes place:thumbsup:.

I've used forums for cars/trucks that I've owned for the good part of 20 years. I don't know how it is now, but back 10 years ago VWVortex was truly the worst place on the web at trying to get useful info from (the DMV is more pleasant than VWVortex).

I think of it this way. Cars and trucks get more complex every year, if the community doesn't grow and evolve with the vehicles themselves, then it will become irrelevant. People use their trucks differently, and that's a good thing. I bought my 3rd gen after driving cars for the last 14 years because I build a lot of furniture, occasionally transport a motorcycle, and will use the bed. Now because of this forum, I've gotten back into off-roading and camping.

I dont know, i saw so many guys say that AC taco is the "real" truck and DC is for "soccer moms". I really dont get that comment.

I needed 4 doors and needed a truck bed. It gets used all the time. There is a reason ford f150 is the most popular vehicle in NA (someone please correct me if im wrong) best of both worlds, interior space and a truck bed.

I had AC ranger and really disliked the lack of interior space.

If you own a house, or handy in any way, a pick up is a must IMO.

Only picture I could find of one of my DCSBs with bikes in the back (prior to gear loaded in). I think the argument is silly too, I've had DCLB, AC, DCSB, for day to day use the DCSB wins, AC is too small cab wise in a lot of situations, DCLB is a b*tch to park / turn, etc. DCSB hits the sweet spot.

Double cab short box is not usable at all, you are right.

Most guys are actually super nice here, dont make a few douchbags leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Enjoy the forum man, tons of useful info and knowledgeable dudes on here.

Ha ! People love to argue. And cool bikes !

My 2005 AC was a long bed. Loved the length of the bed but with a wife, a giant kid, one dog and another on the way, the AC was too tight for longer trips. Moved into the DC with the shorter bed. Love cab room but do miss the longer bed. But truth be told, with the gate down and good straps, I don't really need the longer cab. If I was sleeping there on shorter camping trips ... I think I would miss the length a bit more.

But as you get older (meaning over 50) you care less about what people think and only care about comfort. Like camping. Yeah, sure, when I was younger I was fine sleeping on crappy Coleman sleeping bag on a bed of rocks. Now, if I go camping, I am like the entire Roman Army marching on a town in Greece with all the gear and comfort I am bringing with me ...

    :)

:D I disagree with your short bed unusable comment, but to each their own. HOWEVER I did laugh at this, because I do often poke fun at how everyone comes from a WRX to the next trendy thing, the Tacoma, and then complains the leaf sprung, drum brake, body on frame truck doesn't handle and behave under throttle like a WRX. The Tacoma does drive like a normal truck, with marginally more gear hunting, at least mine (2020). I recognize the earlier Gen 3s were worse, but when I got in for my test drive I was expecting so much worse, drove like a peach!

I would honestly like to know how people manage without one. I guess they rent the $20 HD mule if the new Martha Stewart miniblinds collection can't fit in their Civic. My sister and husband wont even do that much though. They're one of those "call an electrician if the light burns out" types. I don't want to know what the financial situation is, but I also cant figure out how they can afford a home like that. It baffles me.

I'm with you. My back seat gets used a lot.

Keep in mind, I am just goofing around because we are waiting for a good snowstorm and it feels like a combined Friday / snow day all rolled into one ...

But not sure we are supposed to be using the word "retarded" and if we are we probably should spell it correctly lest someone think it is we who are !

    I kid. I kid.

Love the 2020 ... I have the TRD OR ... but haven't really had any problem with the transmission ... maybe because I drive too slow ?

I dont even own a house yet, just a condo. But i would not survive without a pick up truck. Ill never go back to a car, unless i can afford both.
