Gotta bring in as much firewood as I can tonight. I have a bunch in the garage already but left a bunch outside so season more. I will probably drag in a bunch tonight since it's good enough I guess. o_O

I am going back and forth on what tires I want to put on the tundra. Thinking of going with the wildpeaks. How many winters have you been through with them?

Falken has a new AT tire called the Rubitrek that looks like it would be good on pavement and good in snow, but there isn't much info or reviews on them.

I'll be on my MTs for this storm. I wanted to switch over to my KO2's but never got to. The kids are back to all remotely learning because there are too many cases of Covid with the teachers in their school system.

GL. Take it easy and you should be fine. I've run my MT's before and they do surprisingly well. The AT's are definitely much better though.

My school district can decide what a snow day is now. So I may not have to do anything, I may have to have just a meeting with kids or I may have to teach remotely.

now is a great time to figure that out.

Grabber AT2s were the best A/T I ever used for winter conditions. Surprisingly close to a dedicated snow tire in performance. If I were willing to run LT tires, I wouldn't hesitate to get ATXs.

EDIT: Just looked at Tire Rack and I see a 275/55R20 SL now. Those might be my next tires when I wear out my OEMs!

Yeah, so I've heard. I'll probably stick with the Coopers as snow tires in general, just in case some big clumps of snow are in the road.
For all other seasons/purposes, I'll probably get Wildpeaks once the OEMs die.

Not even going to go. It's not even like it's 30 minutes but I might be in the area and have that as a justification

Well, it IS a Chevy after all..sounds like a dumbass move they would pull

For this year we are doing that, but for future years there are moving parts people don't think about. We handed out hundreds of hotspots to families who have lousy internet connections at home (we are rural). The price tag on that makes it unrealistic any other year. We also tore apart carts of devices so they have them at home. High school already took them back and forth but I am not sure that is a good idea for the future for the younger kids. The amount of damage at the lower grade levels resulting from having devices at home and (not even from bringing them back and forth, we are fully remote now) has been outrageous. Besides the cost of parts, I couldn't keep it up with my current staff. Stuff is being put on the back burner to keep up with the student device turnover this year.

This is for the high school and middle school...They both have technology initiatives that have been in place for 5 years or so...Every student has a chromebook/laptop/tablet. They have accounts for school assignments...If you cannot afford one the school loans you one. If you don't have internet the school gives you a hot spot for the year. We're a very "have" school system so 99% of students have no issue with this...and the 1% that needs the stuff gets it.

We provide devices to high schoolers to take back and forth. Middle grabs it in their homeroom and returns at the end of the day. Elementary uses it in the same classroom all day.

Internet access would be the biggest issue for us. The amount we are paying for hotspots this year is crazy. I don't see how we'd cover that in a year without all the grants and government aide.

This will be my second winter on them. I was up in maine/ Sunday river quite a bit last year and they were great in the snow. Imo better than the ko2s. Ko2 is a harder tire compound and has less siding so it makes sense. For the money I think falkens are the way to go. Through they're not the bargain they once were.

You might also look at the copper at3 4s. My wife has them in standard load on her 5th gen 4runner. They wear decent and have awesome grip in the wet/ snow. I don't doubt they'd handle mild trails well , but her 4runner is just for picking up the giblets, getting groceries, and burning dead dinosaurs.

This pig won't really see trails, so I'm mainly looking for good winter performance, 80% pavement 20% dirt/gravel roads, and fire roads when camping and fishing.
