This is my daily driving tune. ECT power is designed to be a towing mode, but performance minded yet. No 6th gear with ECT power, and 5th engages around 65 mph. There is slip lock in 3rd but it's set at a higher speed than before, so it's not bouncing in and out all the time. 4th gear TC tables tweaked as well. I also did a 5th gear unlock for HWY driving so the truck goes into an unlocked state on accents instead of dropping to 4th gear and revving high.

Side note on this tune: The LR stands for Low Range. I've been screwing with the acceleration tables. Indeed they do control the 4WD Low Range.

They DO NOT however, act like other shift tables. If you look I just copied 3-4 upshift table into the 4-5 and raised all points by 10 kph. Similar theory on the downshift.

Now what's weird, is the truck shifts into 5th by 13 mph or so. Certainly not what the tables say to do, but none the less, we now have 5th gear in low 4! By sticking shift values into 6th gear, the same thing happens. The thought process behind this was to gain wheel speed while still having a locker available. Great for mud and snow!!!

HOWEVER, when I give it throttle in 5th gear, the truck does this weird rev limit / fuel cut off around 4200 rpm. 4th gear in low 4 will hit 6000+ rpms. A.K.A. I can actually go faster in 4th as of now. Working on figuring that out yet. Big thanks to @bjorgvinben for directing me to the acceleration tables. NEVER would have guessed that's what they did!!!!

Never a disappointment AJ, thanks for sharing bud. Will flash tonight and clock some miles on it. Hopefully I can get out to the land again this weekend and get into the mud to test out these 4lo tables

 

I don't think so. But we can always make one.

 

4L is still a work in progress. Truck will rev out in fourth gear but it's limited in fifth gear...

 

Try modifying your vehicle speed limiter and see if it still cuts off.


The way Toyota controls speed limit in relation to gears is dumb.
That's why people with 5.29s can only go 80mph before this fix.

Also, anything you do investigate and want updated in the software to reflect it please keep a list, or post on our forum, or even zendesk it.
Things get buried here quickly.

 

My global is @ 250 currently.
I can actually go faster and rev higher in 4th. It's really weird. Baby steps I guess... I would love to be able to bounce off the rev limiter as well. The truck used to hit the cut off drop ~1000 rpm and all hope was lost. Any thought on how to get it to bounce right at a given max rpm?

Something maybe worth investigating is targets for VVT (intake and exhaust) and TC targets when your foot is off the pedal/throttle is at 0%. I've noticed it defaults to part-lock most of the time when off the throttle above 2nd or 3rd gear and was most curious if we could tune that out. Also would like to see if we can retard the intake VVT when off the throttle to help the engine during cruise a bit more. Thx

 

How fast are going in 4L at the 4-5th gear shift/range that you need the revs in 5th. Genuinely interested...

 

With light acceleration it was in 5th by 13 mph. Listed minimum upshift was over 40. It's a strange creature. Doesn't downshift until 5-7 mph. I'm assuming engine load % plays a big role. I just can't fathom why I can rev higher and go faster in 4th. There's a bit or something somewhere telling it to hold back. But at 4k I'm doing 50-55 mph. I've got like 1.5 miles on this test run in L4. Just to put this all in perspective....

I’ve purchased the 3.5 tune pack and catted dump tubes. I’ve already got the urd u spec exhaust. Should be putting the tubes on this weekend. I need a fix for the cel’s. Also I’m running the @Mooseditty17 m+w with @PapaRee 93oct twist. Much appreciate a response guys. Will throw some cash if anyone can help. @Tac0Tic0 @OVTune @tonered

 

Simple fix for dump tubes- change the last 2 values (scroll all the way down-last 2) in Vftuner to 0. No CEL.

 

maybe because 4th is the main drive gear and 5th/6th are programmed as the overdrive gears? ...

 

This? Also read somewhere that there’s a cattless tune that runs good with the urd exhaust Bc of the 2nd catts r deleted.

That’s the ones.
I don’t have a copy of the cat less specific tune. But I think @Tac0Tic0 was running it. He may have a copy.
But I would imagine that the mild+wild 3.1 would be better for performance.

 

Have the older .bin files of the dump tube tunes if you can run those. But I don’t think @OVTune made any adjustments to the tune itself other than eliminating the faults so there wouldn’t be any DTC’s generated.
