This gets better with age too. Have about 2000 miles on 04b33. Mileage has settled in about what I had before. The interstate shifting issues have gone away. It is a lot like ECT on all the time at lower speeds, lower gears. But more mild mannered at lower RPM's with 4th gear, and the overdrives.

    You're welcome!

I have not been paying attention to that thread since it was pointed out that TSBs are on the nhtsa.gov site.

I am finally home and found your ecu uodate thread. Click the drop down menu for the files and nothings there. So I went on my laptop thinking it was an iPhone or iPad issue and nothings there on the laptop either. Am I that dumb or just overlooking it?

All the TSBs and CUWs are attached to the 1st Post. The Spoilers are just to compact the explanations.

I just updated to 04B33 last night after being on OV tune 2.0 premium for 04B31 for awhile. Did it myself after Forrest Gumping my way through the downloads and setup. Thanks to all of you who posted instructions on TW.
After just one 80 mile round trip to work and back I may just leave the tune alone now. Wow what a difference. I love the way the truck accelerates so smooth now. I have an aftermarket exhaust and cai too. I love it. Like a new truck.

I keep reading positive info on it which is why I’d like to update. However, wonder if it’s a bad idea and wonder if this will alter something with ovtune and it’s usability now since he has something that is tied directly to the calibration of the truck. Also wonder if there’s any tunes out there anymore since I believe he took down the links? Been quite some time since I’ve been to his site since 2.0 performance has still not been released.

Just got back from the dealer (all of a mile or so). Haven't had a chance to stretch its legs yet.

But I do have this Gem... Gotta love the dealership.

Just got back from my dealership for this. I took a half a day off so I could get to the scheduled appointment at 2:30. The guy says, "ok, so it'll probably be ready sometime this evening after 5:00. We close at 5:00, so you'll need to pick it up tomorrow." I ask him why it would take so long for a 20 minute ECU update and his only answer is that the techs are working on other vehicles. I asked what the point of an appointment with them was then, and he just said that is when you are supposed to drop it off. Bastards.

Anyway, still no update, but definitely time to find a different dealer for any other warranty work. Anyone in the Vegas area, Centennial Toyota are worthless.

Yes. It is a tune similar to the 2020s. The 2017 MT got it earlier this year. TSB-0043-20 / 04B14.

Still, 04B04 is worthwhile in the interim.

Should have come from the factory that way, right?
Makes me mad I spent all this money on tunes and performance parts and with one software update they fixed almost everything I hated about this truck. Lol, oh well.

I love my dealer. They picked up my truck from my work at 10am, did the transmission update, fuel pump recall and a 2year/20k service and delivered it back to me by 3pm. SF Toyota rocks!

OMG. The first inch of the pedal does something now! Truck feels like it pulls through acceleration.

    Go do this now.

Funny enough on my TSB situation, I called the dealer I bought the truck from about 1 month ago. And I was asking to setup an appointment and they insisted it would have been done during "reconditioning" even though they never even finished the detail because the truck was on their lot for such a short time before I purhcased.

mine is in today for the fuel pump replacement, and I told him that ever since I bought the truck, that it was been stumbling, shifting excessively, and hesitating, or whatever is stated on the tsb, I dont have it in front of me. I then told him I found a tsb on the net and asked him to please perform it. He looked dumbfounded, and saw I had the paper in my hand and asked for it. Of course! I handed it to him with my vin number circled. He read it over and asked again if my truck starting doing this lately (prob was going to hint at winter gas) and I told him it was exhibiting all of those problems since I bought it. He definitely looked like he had never seen or heard of it before. It was all a lie, my truck runs great, seems to shift fairly normally, but I just wanted to get this tsb done while it was in for the recall to see whats up with it. Seems most are pretty happy with it. He said he would have it done. Then I asked him if he'd do me a big favor since I bought the truck there, and since they were going to have a laptop or scan tool hooked up anyway, if he'd set the blinkers to 5 flashes from 3. He said no, they'd only do that if I paid for a half an hour of labor. I said really, you cant hook me up this one time, I heard Toyota allowed one free setting change and he said no, thats not true. So I told him I'd just download Techstream and do it myself. Too bad, I would have tipped him well...Anyway, took 6 hours, truck seems fine, all I had time to do was open the gas door and make sure that all looked okay, which it did. It seemed to drive the same, but didnt drive it much to get home, only about 10 miiles.
