Hi guys, new to the forum, I currently own a 2011 gti and due to my lifestyle am looking to get a new Tacoma and have decided to Finance or Lease one. I haven’t made any solid decision other than going with the Tacoma but does anyone have a solid brief explanation as to whether or not to go with the TRD off-road or the Sr5. I’ll be towing a 14 foot v hull aluminum fishing boat via trailer, hiking, probably off roading (never owned a truck and I’m just a noob looking for any pointers and will value your opinion!

With a lease its based on what you want/need.

TRDs have better resale and you'll be able to sell/transfer the lease if you find money issues down the road easier with it.

The SR5 will be lower payments, and you likely won't ever use a rear locker or crawl control.

Buy the SR5, then build it out how you want it to be. Good luck and welcome to TW.

I’ve decided I’m going to muster up $3k and lease a 2021 Tacoma Sr5 and if I keep it ( which I most likely will ) I’ll just do whatever mods I want and not be upset when a trd pro drives by :)

Good, now that you decided what YOU want to do, leave before people jump in and insist you are wrong based on their opinions.

If you think you may be keeping it you may as well just purchase it from the start, saves $.

True however it’ll be cheaper to lease it for me at this point I just recovered from the virus and am back to work and I’m in need of a new car as my current one just keeps giving me holes in my paychecks. Believe me I’d rather finance, but it’s ridiculous how much these people want for these trucks a month. It is what it is.

If you want to financially recover, maybe don't look at a Tacoma.
Do a 0-down lease on a Ranger or F150 or something and then give it up before it starts having issues.
Then get a Tacoma in ~2 years.

modding a leased vehicle could be very expensive if you can not undo them when the lease is up and you don't buy it
