It is very interesting to observe what truck ppl do and 'think' they need to go on extended trip when you think about how a rider does it... basically like backpacking, so yes less luxuries and comforts but same experiences, perhaps more with extended travel ability. I like to have my backpack kit with me when an opportunity presents itself.

I feel it's also more freedom to explore with the motorcycle, much less things to worry about and more places to fit. I like my truck, but from personal experiences and many places that I visited - it would've been more enjoyable with motorcycle to wonder further where with the truck I had to turn around wondering what did I miss. So definitely getting motorcycle license and learning how to handle it on trails/roads is my 2021 goal.:burnrubber:

I got my moto license and bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan in 2018. 411cc is cheaper on insurance in Ontario than anything over 500cc. I had it for a month and a half and some lady ran a light and put me in a coma.

the 4WD Action guys are one of the reasons i've been contemplating the damned tray in the back myself. It's a dream to do, but it's one of those things that are easier to do with a fresh plate to start from.

the new D_max video that Grahm has doesn't help this idea either...

riders are invisible. it's a shame to hear that had happened, have you recovered well enough?
buddy of mine in Texas almost lost his leg as getting t-bones and flew 30 feet from where he was hit. bone in his left leg was in about 20 shards...

I want to ride, but to daily commute with one terrifies me.

Motorcycle adventure touring is awesome! No better way to see the world. Years ago I did a 4 1/2 month and 38k km trip around North America. Then 6 years ago I did a 2 month trip through Central America. Check out the Ontario Dual Sport Club at odsc.on.ca and advrider.com for some ideas.

Even as crazy as this sounds, doing exended travel in a 2dr Rubicon with a basic mopar lift and 37's using compact gear can get ppl so many places. kind of the happy middle ground for ppl that don't mind backpacking when the time is right.

A doors off intended backpacking trip on Cape Breton island. The Jeep was good to a certain point than it became mega sketchy alone. This was a Cape St. Lawrence NS. The interior of this little Jeep got a lot of rain!! the $5 canadian tire tarp was always in the back ready to cover the seats and dash!

That's a 75 Liter Acteryx Altra backpack, big enough for luxury items like a full sized pillow and a 6 pack of tall cans!!!! Or an easy weeks worth of back country travel needs.

Haha yes that's it. I started the ODSC years ago. And organized the first ride in 1998 and so many rides since then.

Just be careful man. I dont think I have ever met a motorcyclist who did not have some injury that was not a result of riding. Including myself.

And myself, I ended up spinning in the air and sliding 20-30' across the pavement because some lady ran a red light... if it wasn't for studded palm gloves my hands would have been destroyed... they scrubbed the rocks and glass out of my legs at the hospital with a bristle brush, no freezing or anaesthetic ...

Car drivers are idiots when it comes to motorcycles... couldn't begin to count the number of times I was cut off or people changing into my lane... I put carpet tacks on the side of my boots for kicking doors when people were changing into my lane...

If your going to ride just remember this and you will be ok.
" Every driver out there is waiting for the opportunity to kill you"

the guy beside you is waiting to side swipe you
the guy behind you is waiting to ram into you
the guy turning left is waiting to turn into you

the city will try to kill you
they will put down extra slippery painted lines and tar snakes
they will strategically put man hole covers and not fix pot holes to mess you up

mother nature will try to kill you
    rain wind cold
road kill and debris on the road
and the every popular gravel sprinkled on the road right where your curve or turn is

lets not forget those who obtained a fake drivers licence and can't drive
the elderly who change lanes before looking
the new drivers who are friendly and want to touch you with their car, just to say hello
    trucks who cant see you
and the ever popular "my rav4 is faster than this guy" that's the dad racer there is lots of them

I can go on and on but with all that jazz I still ride but in my 50's now 1 or 2 more seasons and I'll have to hang it up.

oh did i mention the tuner cars who want to practice with you...lol.. its all good man if a guy like me can ride anyone can. good luck and lets plan a ride with our tw group...

I don’t plan on DD motorcycle, even my truck is too small to see for average Toronto driver without trying to kill themselves. It’s more of a travel ride, for back roads and dirt roads.

In my case it was a Mitsubishi!

Corollas often identify as motorcycles on Toronto highways:

Yup same one I have. This is the same bed @Ralf has completely kitted out to make it a complete kit. Bumpers, tools boxes, lights and pretty much all the available options that uteltd doesn't outfit. Essentially bridging the gap from contract bed to more offroad worthy.
