Limited is the highest level trim the 1st gens had, better seats, sunroof, chrome handles, color matched flares...probably some other little doo dads the other trims didn't get. The sunroof and lumbar seats are probably the biggest differences.

Weird. My SR5 came with chrome handles so Ive replaced them with chrome handles. Guess the previous owner could have done that as well, but I really didn't see any evidence of replacement when I first disassembled the door panels.

There may have been other trims or packages that came with the chrome handles...Toyota offered so many different variations on trims and stuff over the 1st gen years it's hard to keep track. Got way simplified with 2nd gens on

Way overpriced. I paid 18k for my 2001 with 24k original miles on it. These things hold their value, but some folks take it wayyyyyy too far.

I buy and sell alot of tacomas and 4runners and I usually am a good judge on buying but I recently got my ass handed to me on a 02 tacoma. I knew it was kinda rough when I looked at it but for the price I figured i was still good. I couldn't see myself paying $12k-$15k for a 1st gen. Long story short, I'm already there in all the repairs I've had to do and still going. I should have pulled out a long time ago but one thing has kinda lead to another. I will have to save this one for my 8 year olds first vehicle cause I will never get my money out of it and I also wouldn't want to sell someone a piece. Point is do your homework. Sometimes in the long run your better off paying a little more and getting a nicer truck. But probably not $20k lol.

Keep in mind a few years ago there were way more low milage clean 1st gens available hence the lower prices. Lower milage ones are becoming more rare so its simple supply and demand.
