Yeah, mine smelled too. I just washed the undercarriage that I needed to do anyway and it disappeared. I believe they take it out from the top, but have to pull the tank and my tank was about 1/2 full. Should have run it down more.

I was able to get mine scheduled in DFW, they just said they needed a week for the parts to get in. They'll have it 24HRS and are giving me a loaner.

They asked that the tank be less than 1/2 filled. I assume they don’t want to take a shower in gasoline when they drop it out. Overall it took 3 hrs from drop off time till pickup time. Truck driver the exact same.

according to nhtsa even though the2017 is now included it won't take affect until dec 23 2020

been wondering if this might also have something to do with the burnt valves a few members have seen as well...goes lean and torches the valve

Got my fuel pump replaced this morning. It took them right at 2hrs to replace it. Stopped by the gas station and fueled up for the ride home, usually the distance to empty is 385 miles. Now it's showing 420 miles. When I got home I had driven 100 miles, looked at the tank average meter it was showing 28 mpg. This cannot be true.

That's not right. I believe the fuel range is calculated off the sender level voltage input. Your first pic showed the needle way past the full mark indicating the float is reading incorrectly. That would also explain the inaccurate trip miles. I would guess the tank will have to come back down to check for a bent float arm.

Any advice on things to look for before I bring my truck to the dealership tomorrow? For example gaps, fuel tank location, condition of bolts, or gas filler location? Anything I should look for or verify after I pick it up?

Scheduled the appointment with the dealer. They actually got the part in very quickly...we were out of town but from the initial service call a couple weeks ago or so, they had it in a few days. Going in next Friday for the appointment. Says it takes 4 hrs and we will get a loaner. Going to leave the RCI skid on unless anyone had an issue with them being told it needed to be removed.

    UPDATE:

We had our recall done for the pump.

Spent a bit of time with our SA from Toyota.

    Zero issues.

    LOL!

Honestly, it was seamless for our truck.

When our SA came out and looked at it, I made a point of showing where all of my electronic stuff went and he respected it.

So for all the HAM radio ( my biggest concern ) and the lighting/other misc things......he took the time to make 100% certain they would not be touched

    I am happy.

So my experience for this "recall"

They just dropped the Driver side of the bed to gain access.....then replaced the pump.

Now WHY it takes 5 hours to do I am confused.

We expected the time from the dealer and they were very accommodating.

NO ISSUES on our end aside from the time to do the recall.

Good to hear! I'm a ham also, but I only use my ht in the truck, so no fancy gear or wiring.

The only other tree I know the fancy name for is pseudotsuga menziesii (they're the main tree in the forests here)
