I’m no expert, but I don’t see how increasing caster at the LCA or at the UCA is going to fix that rub.

i dont understand alignments very much. but the with SPC arms i can adjust the ball joint plate pushing the wheel forward even more, i wonder i that would do the trick, or if im just not understanding it at all lol.

You can adjust it but you still will want to be within a spec. As mentioned, I would shoot for 4*-5* for caster. Normally you would only have the lowers to adjust for this with stock or most aftermarket UCAs but the SPCs allow you more adjustment because you can adjust from up top too. Really what that allows is for you to get exactly the specs you want/need. Other UCAs you're mostly stuck with where it ends up.

IMO, you won't be able to adjust that rub out and be able to get it within spec. That's more than I was expecting when you said a slight rub.

The only caster that will move the tire forward comes from the lower cam bolts. I imagine they are already forward as far as they will go. The UCA just changes the angle for wheel movement

4.75 backspace is a lot. Most aftermarket UCA recommendations are 4.5 backspace or less of runni larger tires. At this point you need lower backspace wheels or try a spacer.

True in theory, but the reality is most 285s (33s) are actually the same width as 35s. My 285 KM3s are actually wider than my wife's 315 KO2s.

I highly doubt that. Even with manufacture variation, the width is 40 mm difference in theory. That’s an inch and a half. If you look at the manufacture specs on tires, they list 315 less than a 285??

thanks for you help guys! its making more sense to me now. i think the plan forward is get new wheels eventually. i think ill just have to live with the rub for now and plan ahead on sharp turns etc. unless i can find a spacer that would work. i think 1.25" is too thick.. i would for sure hit my cab mount again. unless the wheel can be pushed forward more? lol

Not sure what you mean "they list 315 less than a 285"? Of course they don't, but putting a tape on both, my 285s are wider. I'll post pics when I get my truck back today.

Count the threads on the front that are available. If you have around 10, just put a 1/4 inch spacer from Bora. Should be good.

No offense honestly, but I don’t care and don’t want to derail thread.

This. If you want to try a spacer, Bora spacers are quality and can get most widths (unlike the spridertrax that are only 1.25")

Word. ill check them out. I think like a 1/4 spacer should do the trick actually. thanks!

Do you believe everything you read on the internet (I'm only playing...it is Friday after all)

In all seriousness, her 315s (315/70R17 E rated at 28psi) measure 11.5" wide. The KM3s are fat tires, so maybe it's just them (it's actually the thing I hate the most about my KM3s)?

so should I got 1/2 inch spacers from BORA (12.7mm)? since its pretty much equivalent to -12 offset??.... they also make a 9.53mm spacer. has anyone here installed them before? i thought i heard spacers under 1" were kinda sketchy?

Usually spacers under an inch slide over existing lugs. That's sketchy, especially on the Tacoma where the lugs are quite short anyways. The Bora have new studs (not sure if the .25" ones will). The most important thing is make sure you have plenty of thread engagement.

You should go new wheels instead of spacers.

OP there’s a lot of misinformation on spacers. I have dealt with spacers and Bora before. They say the thinnest spacer with built in studs are 0.75”. So if you go less, you’ll either need new extended studs in the hub, or get get a spacer thin enough you will still have enough thread on existing studs. The 1/4 inch ones should offset wheel enough and keep enough threads exposed. 1/2 is probably borderline because you’ll have a lot less threads to work with.

So the 1/4 spacers will just slide onto the existing studs, but wont have their own threads? i'll just slide it onto the hub, and then mount the wheel, and the wheel will just squeeze onto it when tightening the lug nuts? I had spacers on my XJ before that worked great. just curious how these thinner ones work.
