Yes, you would need to unlock with 4 more credits.

Wouldn't he also need to purchase a new tune pack for the new ECU?

I haven’t done anything yet but enter the master key or serial number or whatever that came in the emails months ago.

Edit - may of this year to be exact :). Only bought vftuner because I wasn’t sure there would ever be a performance tune for my 2019 or not. Not knocking the developer as I believe he has legitimate reasons not to release but mines a 2019 and 2021 Tacoma’s are out already. Anyway figured I’d at least install it and see what it’s all about since I’ve paid for it.

I get that but just speaking for the general case. If someone were to unlock an ECU and purchase a tune pack for said ECU and later down the line updates their ECU they will need to purchase credits to unlock that ECU and a new tune pack.

Sounds like it. I’m not purchasing again though regardless. Different truck, yes I’d purchase again. But same exact truck, same computer, same owner, no. Seems a bit ridiculous.

Amen to that. Pray the dealer doesn't slip an update in or something.

Thanks. I think I’ll set mine back to stock values. I did not want to modify my 4 lo shifting.

Can anyone clarify: do user-created tunes apply to cruise control yet? Or are we still waiting for access to cruise control, so it reverts back to the 2.0 tune whenever cruise control is engaged?

I think that's the stock settings but you've got the process down pat it seems. Welcome!

Is there a list of filenames that tells me what each file is? Over a hundred pages of online manual feels a bit daunting... Matt's email gave that file as the one I needed to download:

    Mathew Wilson (OVTune)

    Hello,

    Good day!

Here is the download link for the 04B41 v2.0 Final VFT file:
    https://ovtune.../VFT+FILES/04B41+VFT.zip

    Some notes about this file:
    > It is the equal of the released 04B41 v2.0 Final P5F file, just in VFT form (and therefore, editable using vF Tuner. If you didn't upgrade to the vF tuner, you won't be able to edit these files)
    > This file is compressed/zipped. Therefore, make sure to unzip/extract the files to a folder of your choosing.
    > After unzipping/extracting the files to a folder of your choosing, open vF Tuner and click on the "Open" button (looks like a yellow folder icon). Find the files where you unzipped/extracted the files.
    > Enjoy editing. Don't forget to save your work (I suggest you save it as a new file so you have a copy of the original one you're editing).
    > Upload/flash your edited tune to your vehicle following the "How to Flash a Tune" section of the vF Instruction Manual:
    Page 103 to 106:
    https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0885/5830/files/vForest_Tuner_Instructions.pdf?v=1592182954

    Thank you and best regards.

At 57 mph / 4200 rpm throttle drops from 26* to 10* climbs back up and repeats.

I am stuck on the Click the “TOYOTA FLASH TOOL” button to launch the Toyota Flash Tool window. The window doesn't launch. The button is active, and I allow several minutes for it to launch...but nada. All anti virus is off...and all steps prior to this one went as the instructions provided. Thoughts?

My best advice is to close it, reinstall vF (no need in uninstall), be sure to Launch Program from the setup screen, and be sure to Allow any virus notifications. Sometimes, it will quarantine a file, esp if I don't run the program right away.

    I came across interesting findings.
I've been looking into the balance between drivability and mpgs and found that I get better mpgs if i dont mess with these 2 tables
    upload_2020-12-18_14-34-51.jpg

I used original 2.0 87 reg and applied changes only to throttle limits per gear tables, shift points for 5,6 and tc unlocking for 5th. The rest is original 2.0.
My typical "test route" is about 40 miles (35% of freeway inclines) and I'm getting 1.5 mpg more than the tune with mods to 2 above tables.
The tune with changes to these tables feels sluggish, even the steering wheel feels heavy after the flash.
I see better throttle performance by just modding throttle limits per gear. Accel. Throttle request to Airload table is the original 2.0.
Speaking of which.. Are these speeds vehicle speed or RMPS?
