What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I would love to hunt Chukar, but not many around where I am. We have lots of Valley Quail. Two guys, Two limits, Two Tacoma’s (given covid). Do you hunt public land for Chukar? We hunt the BLM and the military bases mainly

 

Is this what causes the squeaking noise to come from the truck when it’s moving?

 

Not directly related to Tacoma’s necessarily, but several months ago a few of you mentioned wheeling at Fort Hunter Liggett and being stationed there. Here are some beautiful pictures from there. I wish I could say that I was the photographer but I can’t. Enjoy

Looks like an awesome day! There are a lot of quail in your area for sure! Quail are also one of my favorites. I’ve been chasing chukar for a long time in nv and here in Idaho throughout the Owyhees. All public land birds. NV isn’t too far to travel to get into chukar as a weekend trip for you! Just find the gnarliest mountain you can and start hiking up lol! It’s my favorite!!

 

I thought you don’t need the taco lean 1/4” spacer with the oem coils since they account for it with the driver side coil being stiffer?

 

All I know is that it is more level from side-to-side now than before.

I put the 1/4” spacer in as well when I had the 5100’s. These trucks vary a lot from rig to rig. Some have little to no lean with the oem springs, and some have a noticeable amount. Personal preference, but I didn’t want to preload my driver side more than my passenger by being on different clip settings, so a small top plate spacer was the answer.

 

Makes sense. Ive had 5100s maxed out on oem coils on a 2nd gen and 3rd gen without a spacer and looks fine to me. Even when I measure my life with 1/2 tank of gas too.

 

Nice! I took mine a step further and welded on a step. Here is a post on rubber isolators if you'd like to secure that shackle from rattling around.

 

What did you use for paint? Cool idea.

 

Right! You got the model they built on a Wednesday lol I must’ve got the Friday at 5 before a three day weekend edition haha but they do vary from truck to truck for sure. How’s the ride cranked all the way up?

 

For paint, I think I used good old

$7 Rust-Oleum 7778830 High Heat Enamel Spray Paint, Bar-B-Que Black, 12-Ounce

I got my 2021 Off Road buffed and waxed last week by a local guy. Bout to go do a fluid film treatment before the roads get salted like wild round here.

 

Haha for real! I like it just fine! It’s all I ended up doing to my 2015 but on my new 2021, it’s just a stepping stone til I get 888s and UCAs and then Icon progressive AALs with 5100s on the rear.

 

installed pro grill from Toyota Pro Shop. Very pleased with the quality and fit. Also swapped out the tweeters with the Subaru tweeters. All speakers finally replaced.
