Does it still plug into the harness?

I don’t use mine. I can read all the gauges fine with just listening to the canbus (assuming that’s what it’s doing). I believe @dwillhere1 is doing the same. I’m not sure what the cable is for, maybe other vehicles or older ones or ?? But I think some have it connected? No way I was going to run it to the odb port and leave it plugged in.

if you’re wondering where the port is, near driver kick panel under steering wheel. Used for vehicle diagnostics.

Awesome, I’ll pull it out of my harness then. I didnt really wanna run it all the over there and leave it plugged in either.

I’m about ready to take a hammer to this thing. I got the wiring and hardware all hooked up. Now the software is giving me fits. The CarAV app is complete garbage and I can’t seem to update the firmware or get the receiver to recognize the hotspot on my iPhone 12.

It will connect wirelessly for CarPlay but then Siri doesn’t work and the iPhone has no internet connection. The phone connects to a WiFi signal from the receiver which then doesn’t allow it to use its cellular signal. The only way to have Siri work is if I plug it in via usb, which defeats the purpose of paying $900 for wireless CarPlay.

this is only true if you have the newer revision of the Maestro RR. The OBDII connection isn’t required for the older revision.

Shit. Is this the case with all iphone 12s? Has anyone else installed this with an iphone 12? I just flashed my maestro now I'm scared to open the pioneer box...

I avoid Siri at all costs so I'm useless on this topic.

    Haha fair. Siri sucks anyways

This may be a dumb question but do I need to rewire my speakers? I’m not changing amp or speakers etc and these directions are indeed terrible. Not sure if I have it in me to remove door panels etc today like in the instructions they sent.

Amp & speakers are on my list but haven’t done that yet myself. As long as you connect white, grey, green and purple pairs you gave stock head unit power.

Does anyone know if my 2018 SR has a GPS antenna? I bought the adapter but sounds like I might not even have one. If so what are my options? I'd like to use the truck's GPS instead of enabling my phones every time.

Sweet, thanks that's kind of what I figured. The white, grey, green and purple pairs from the pioneer main harness or the maestro harness? Guessing pioneer- and connect them to factory wires that were connected to the stock head unit?

I am running an iPhone 12Pro Max (14.3 firmware). The following combinations work: Wireless Carplay (headunit will not connect to iPhone hotspot) or Wired Carplay (head unit will connect to iPhone hotspot). Your other option is to stream via Bluetooth and connect to the iPhone hotspot.

I run a separate standalone hotspot in my vehicle that resides in my truck all the time. My headunit is always connected to the standalone hotspot.

You tie pioneer speaker out to maestro speaker in which feeds OEM 10 and 6 connector. The 6 has dimmable ground and the 10 has power, ignition, parking light, ground and remote turn on / power antenna. 10 has the front speakers (grey and white pairs) while the 6 has the rear (green and purple pairs)

Thanks for confirming! I appreciate it. What is the hot spot you are using?

@daveeasa thank you again! That’s helpful. So many damn connectors and wires

I use a Harmon Spark. It plugs into the OBDII port for power. Just about every carrier has one. My wife always uses my hotspot with her iPad while I drive.

Alright here’s where I’m at right now on my benchtop, I tried to make the jumbled mess semi organized but again tons of wires. Am I missing anything big? I wrapped the green to green, purple to purple, rca pioneer white to maestro white, rca pioneer gray to maestro grey, and I have a few extra connectors off to the side that I am unsure of too for now posted in pic #2.
I haven’t installed a radio since my 98 wrangler and things have clearly changed quite a bit haha.

You cut the (WHITE & GREY) rca's off the maestro (SPEAKER) harness and then match wire colors. Make sure to connect the blue of the antenna harness to remote out from the pioneer (blue/white). There are two backup camera harnesses, you only use one. You use the factory SAT antenna instead of the one which came with the sirius kit unless it's broken or doesn't work for some reason? You use the usb adaptor to connect to the OEM USB port if you want it, it requires a usb-a female to usb-c adaptor (included or purchase extra pigtail). The 3.5mm adaptor is optional, feeds from the maestro to the 3.5mm jack on the usb port.

More resources here. Keep going, there really isn't anything you can do wrong other than connect two wires which are different colors swap sat and gps (same plug)

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...nformation-thread.672425/page-3#post-23956188

ETA: Do not cut any RCA's in a red/yellow/white bundle.

Has anyone deleted their JBL amp with this? Is maestro really needed if I delete the factory amp?

I have 2 amps connected now via a Fix86 with the factory JBL HU and Amp. I just want to remove anything that I ultimately don’t need and cleans things up back there.
