Looking forward to hearing more - especially if the cover is improved from a traditional soft cover zipper setup. I'm still surprised CVT doesn't have more pictures and videos of this new package in operation.

Yea you can, Ive been looking at these for a bit now. Its nice because you dont have to deal with the zipper and you can mount other stuff to the top side.

I couldn't find any video on them but if you go to CVT Instagram. There's a video they posted on Nov 23rd talking about there shower tent and he goes into a little detail about the hybrid tent as well.

I like that better than the massive cover.

do you have any pics of how it opens? iKamper had something similar a few years ago, idk why they decided to discontinue it though. almost got one used locally too, just a bit above my price range.

    older vid on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc1hzguMol8&ab_channel=LastLineOfDefense

    Not much stock left.
Interesting. It was dealing with the zipper on a cold morning that I hated the most. It’s the biggest reason I switched to a hard shell.

How does it go together and stay there? The soft top is way more comfortable than the hard top.

There's an elastic piece im pretty sure that folds around the edges of the tent to completely cover the top side. Im not completely sure on how it works since there's not much content out on it yet.

Here are the details and specs for those interested. I like the idea of being able to save cargo space over my roof rack while still lugging my kayak and mountain bike on the bed.

Yup, the tents cross bars are rated for 150 elbows. Enough for my kayaks.

Finally, this is the first time i've seen this done on exposed ceiling with no drywall. Thank you for this!

Are you at all worried about the rafters supporting that weight?

currently in the market for an RTT. one feature that i really want to have are clear window screens that can zip away in addition to the bug mesh and opaque.

so far the only one ive seen with them is iKamper. are there any other brands that offer this?

Does the iKamper have this on all windows? or only the "sunroof?"

I really wanted this feature in the sunroof, and got the roofnest condor.

Personally that was the biggest deterrent for me. I have yet to see one that looks good. They tend to yellow or crack and they always look wrinkled to hell. If it gets dirty, good luck seeing through it and you have to clean it. Even if it zips away, it defeats the purpose of a clear “skylight”. Serves the same purpose as a mesh screen pretty much. If it’s pretty enough to stargaze, it’s good enough weather to have the bug screen open.

from what ive seen its on all windows. on x-cover at least.

i thought about the yellowing as time goes by, but itd still be nice to have when new. plus itd be a nice break from waking up in darkness.

no way in hell im leaving the bug screen open. lol. not trying to be a midnight snack for them mosquitoes.

I sleep like a rock in my 23Zero with LST. It’s quite literally pitch black in there during the daytime when I close the LST shades. Never wake up in the middle of the night so that’s never been something I’ve considered

i would like the complete opposite. an option of waking up in the morning and have natural light come in.
