Obviously we all like Tacomas here, but a Camry is not a bad choice at all, it is a fabulous appliance for the task of getting around, and won't inspire spending loads of cash on mods....I've had a few as loaners and was pleasantly surprised.

I wonder if I might be the only member to ever have a Yugo? Got it for free from a family member that had been using it haul garden supplies and firewood around their property. It was a fun car in the city, but sucked on the highway. It was pretty reliable, which was good as I had it in the early 90's and parts availability was almost nil by then. Probably easier to get parts these days on the internet.

I've rode in one or two of them. I was a few short years from being old enough to drive when those came out. They were very simple, no frills cars.

bro. Used Toyota’s are a great value even with 150K miles on the Chasis... well at least in non-rust areas.

I see great deals on second gen Tacoma’s and tundras. 3rd gens are slowly starting to get cheaper as more higher mileage vehicles hit the market.

And there are great deals on used GX470/460 and LX570/470.

A 200k mile land cruiser could be had for 10-15k, and a well-maintained one has at least 100-150k more miles to go.

I see 300K land cruisers sell for 10-15k, so you won’t even lose that much money in the end.

It is a shame that the idea didn't get a better foothold.

I saw many around, but never got the opportunity to experience one.

Never rode in one, but I do remember at the time when people were just starting to talk about the eventual death of the sub $10k car, the Yugo was still standing as the the last of the sub $5k car.

Yugo's :rofl:back in they included one for free if you purchased a new truck. I tend to agree with much of what has been mentioned. Have to include other things to consider as well; better gas mpg and most likely cheaper insurance considering your age. It's much cheaper to put tires on my car. ? I say get Tacoma if you factor the expenses and budget allows. As I've aged my earnings ability increased and now I've got too many vehicles. Well not too many but different ones for different purposes. Good luck deciding.

Get a < 50k certified Lexus ES350. Thank me later. Merely asking this question tells me you don't need a truck and the car is so much nicer, no comparison.

But you like the Camry? I can't help you.

    IMG_20201120_195408319.jpg

Edit: it's a really nice Camry with awesome service, much nicer features, and better resale. ;)

I considered the camry because its less than half the price of the Tacoma and still with it being pretty new. So yea versus a car that'll cost me just as much as the truck I always wanted

I'm just sayin look at the ES with 20k more miles or so and it will probably be no more $ than the Camry. Or not. Just an idea for you.

Don't Camry's have a CVT transmissions now? No thank's I'll pass on anything CVT until they start using them for semi tractor trailers.

I just told the salesman that a couple months ago when shopping for a newer car for my son. He got a kick out of it. Same salesman I bought my Tacoma from.

I would do almost anything for a Subaru Baja but they are a very rare breed here.

I liked suggestion of 3k used car and new Tacoma too, but when I was 23 no way I could afford a new truck let alone 2 vehicles expense.
