The maestro unit is needed for two critical items: Steering wheel controls (and alternate mapping), and head unit controls of the various vehicle functions which the Entune head unit performed.

you will need the usb adapter from the "extra stuff" to go from the tacoma usb plug to the back of the head unit.

Last 3 questions for tonight, think I’m good to try it out tomorrow. Thanks again for everyones help, the “crutchfield support” pamphlet that came with the unit made me laugh- more like tacomaworld support.

    1. Seems like there’s conflicting info on how to wire the end of this solid blue one for what I believe is radio- there’s a blue with white stripe coming out of both maestro and pioneer- some people have said tie all 3 together, and I have seen some that say tie it straight to pioneer blue and white or straight to the other solid pioneer blue- maybe I’m blind but I don’t see a solid blue coming from pioneer?

    2. What is this guy? I believe based on search it’s not used but want to double check.

    3. What are you guys doing with the green parking brake wire?

    1. Some of this recent confusion is my fault for poor memory, sorry. The Pioneer provides a remote out trigger wire to indicate when it is powered on. The Maestro needs that as an input and so does the OEM FM antenna. Therefore you tie all 3 together. Blue or blue / white are both used to indicate remote power on. The reason for some of my confusion is that I used a completely unnecessary PAC TR4 as a micro relay for my remote out signal. Because I wanted extra protection against overloading the remote out lead for the indefinite future. It has a max current draw so you can’t run a 20 watt reverse light off it (without a relay). All normal people are tying all 3 directly together. This should be your only 3 way connection.

    2. I’m not sure what that one is. Did you get RR or RR2? Better photo or can you find it in the documentation?

3, Light green parking brake wire feeds to maestro harness. I thought it was light green on the other end. There is a page on the maestro install docs for Tacoma for Pioneer which has the mappings for pink, light green, etc. I believe there are two wires which are left unconnected, yellow/black and another yellow/something?

    645AF021-F423-44A6-93A7-1910C59A09A9.jpg
Please note in this picture the one wire which is different in color on both sides is the blue/white to medium green. This is because I used a PAC TR4 which has its input trigger as green. All normal people have 3 way blue to blue. I have pioneer blue white to pac green then pac blue to fm antenna, germes, maestro with plans for amp 1, amp 2, maybe a signal processor, etc.

Sweet thanks for the clarification man. I got the RR- I am now thinking it might be the maestro parking brake wire due to the fact it's the only wire not connected currently (other than the yellow/black and yellow/green)? I did check the maestro wiring diagram and it says light green to light green. It doesn't look "light green" to me at all, more like teal but maybe that's just me being cautious/from a design background where calling colors their correct names is important. Here's a better pic:

I’d consider that teal as well.

You can see in my photo that the light green is a pretty close color match. I did get the RR2 but not sure if the harness is the same? You can call maestro if you’re worried about it, I think they have pretty good customer service. By process of elimination though I would guess like you have.

I have had both the RR and RR2. I can confirm the main harness is exactly the same. The RR2 has an additional harness for a few extra stand alone (programable) applications.

It’s running perfectly ladies and gents, so yes that was right. This thing is beautiful. Thanks for all your help. I was gonna PM you through this but figured it may help others along the way posting. It really wasn’t that bad. Also, for people having hotspot issues- make sure you click the magnifying glass after you click hotspot settings. I wasn’t seeing any wifi’s until I did that. Now my Iphone 12 pro works perfectly. I mocked up the fit like you said @daveeasa but for some reason the right bottom side of the screen seems to protrude a bit out, and the left top seems to have a little gap. This may be ridiculous but do you have a protractor/does anyone that has a flush fit with premium bezel have a protractor? I don’t really want to drill into this $1K headunit until I know it’s going to be flush.

In addition, I think it’s roughly the same sound quality but has the ability to get far more loud. I used to push the stock head unit to the max but with this ~25% is more than enough.

@svermilyea knows his stuff, thanks so much for all the info.

@MGMSangTaco for fine tuning some people have said you can bend the brackets a little. Others have used washers on the brackets but that only helps get it to sit further out. I’d consider doing a slot on the lower holes if you want some play then test fit and adjust. The top holes really seem to line up perfectly for me. But you could slot them too. I don’t think you’re going to be mashing your screen so hard that you’d smash it back in the slot if you tighten reasonably snug. You could also slot till it’s deep enough on all 4 corners then use washers to shim forward as needed?

I messed up my first set of holes in my brackets and the second set were not perfect but I just drilled bigger till I got it good enough.

Maybe I should give up my OCD badge though.

I definitely wish someone would make an exact fit bracket. Seems like that’s precisely what Crutchfield is all about

They sold me two mounting kits (the american whatever and the floating kit) in my recommended install package, so seems like they want more $$ than anything. Thanks for the tips I was trying to bed the right side a bit but well see, may end up doing washers to the recessed left side like you said.

Overall super happy I made the switch. Entune has been a headache since I got my truck in 2016 and it’s so nice to be able to use waze and spotify etc on the headunit. Also so nice to know I can turn the brightness way down and even off for long drives like CO->MA

I will repost some pics that one of our members took of his alignment which was perfect. This will put you in the ball park and you can tweak it with a Dremel.

    Edit: Thank you @daveeasa

OBD connection is required with the latest revision of the Maestro RR harness. I have the old one and it’s not hooked up. On the same note, anybody noticed that their TPMS pressures are reversed? Seems like they are in different spots on the 6600 than on the cluster.

Does anybody have any experience selling their factory head unit to Infotainment.com? They made a good offer and seem like a solid company. I'm just wary of sending in the old unit with no guarantee that I'll see a payment.

    Hey y’all,

    6600 is working awesome!

says I need to agree to a terms of use policy. How do I do that? When I go into menu to do it says Failed to download policy, come back later or check connection.

also I just noticed my dash compass is gone. Weird

    thoughts?
