Hello folks. I recently said goodbye to my 05 Tundra and picked up a 2020 Tacoma. I really like the new ride but the lack of power is pretty unsatisfactory. I have read about the orange virus Tuning and it sounds pretty legit. Have any of you folks done this and if so, how much did it cost? How much can I reasonable expect to pay for a complete tune on my 2020 Tacoma TRD Off-road w/auto trans? Are there better options to Ovtune or alternatives?

I'm also considering a cold air intake and cat back system to complete the package. Thoughts, advice?

Thanks for any input you all can provide.

I think you have a smaller engine now. Potentially less horsepower and torque. I drive a 4 banger. No complaints here on my end.

The tune will cost you about $700 and you'll get several tunes to try. It also allows you to tweak the tunes to suit your needs.

I have the poor mans "TRD" intake, borla catback and Premium SFOB (MT full otto cycle performance tune) and my truck is super fun to drive. You wont be dissaponted.

If you have a manual, you can flash to SFOB. Much better low end torque and throttle response. Also can feel extra power in mid and higher rpms, awesome tune and same mpgs.

No such tune offered for AT.

If you want to save some money there are several folks that can provide tuning for you with their VFTuner knowledge, myself included, for a much lower cost if you are not interested in investing and tinkering yourself. You just need to go over to the VFTuner thread (or a regional thread) and let folks know your location (Maine?). I would gladly pay 2x what I have to invest in my own tunes so the value is there for me. Good luck @WildMaineYakFisher

    N/A tuning? no

    other options
    forced induction

save your money on both of those and put it towards one of the 3 above
    intake/exhaust are just noise makers

I like the idea if anyone is already set up with a VFtuner in my area that would be awesome. I'm in the Bangor area of Maine. There are more Tacos here than in Mexico!

You already have CAI and the TRD exhaust is probably the best all around according to forum feedback

    I may ha
I may have goofed but now that I have put some miles on my Taco, I can't say I regret it and finding out how easy it is to pull more power out of this truck is nothing less than encouraging. My w
    CAI?

It's good to know the TRD Exhaust is already good to go, thanks. I'm seriously considering a cold air intake as well.

You can't say "Cold Air Intake", it will trigger folks. The factory intake is plumbed into the wheel well so it is technically speaking a CAI. There are plenty of aftermarket intakes you can get including one from TRD that are marketed as "less restrictive". You can also just replace your OEM air filter with a less restrictive version that just drops into the factory airbox.

For the exhaust, you could get a URD Y pipe that removes the secondary cats and replaces the restrictive factory Y pipe. That is said to give some pretty good gains especially when paired with a tune. Depending on where you live and emissions laws, you might not be able to go that route.

    Good luck
