How can I repair this connector (or replace)? SOLVED

This is a @MESO Total Tail harness, when my truck was in the shop they had to remove the bed and I assume they pulled the wire out when they did so.

I would think I could release the tang and push it out, but I can't get that to work. I can't get the red rubber boot to come out either, and it's starting to tear.

The only part number on this is a 3. I would be willing to cut the wires and use a new one, but I have no idea where I would get one. I'd kinda like to fix this today if possible.

Call your local Toyota parts department.

 

There should be a five digit number in this area. Put a 90980- in front of that number and tell the counter guy that you need a 82998 for that connector. I’m betting it’s a 12440.

 

That's just the tang and wire though, right? I can't get that out.

 

Flip that connector around. There should be a white locking tab. You’ll need to pry that outwards. Once that’s out you should be able to pry up on the locking tab that holds the old pin in place. Hard to explain. But easy once you see how it works.

 

Use the hook end of a pick tool into that silicone boot to help pull it out the back. Hopefully it’s still crimped to the pan.

You can unpin it and pull the pin out and solder it back to the wire and reinsert. Or send me a ticket at the bottom of the website and I can send out a new harness

 

I have the terminals (and the seal) for that. I’ll send you a few if you shoot me your address in a PM. Problem is going to be you need a crimper. You might be able to solder it? Where are you at geographically?

The hard part was figuring out how the connector worked. But I got it out, it just looks like the wire pulled out. I should be able to repair it, sending a new harness shouldn't be necessary.

I should be able to just crimp it back in place, but I have the iron warming up just in case.
