    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
You drive a 4wd truck. You have lifted that truck. You have increased the rolling weight of that truck... you intend to further increase the rolling weight of that truck.

Don't track MPG... you'll be less depressed.

    U have made a lot o changes

U are planning on making a few more

NOT sure U have compensated for the diff size tyres U have used.................. a factor in calculating MPG !!

actaul miles run ( corrected ! ) actual gallons used at pump ( dash gauge is wonky ! )will reveal TRUE MPG

+1 on what @ROAD DOG said.

Increasing your tire size adds weight, which increases the amount of fuel you use... But, another often overlooked side effect is. An increase in tire diameter throws off your speedometer AND your odometer. Your odometer is tracking less miles than you are actually driving.

So... back to... don't track MPG... you'll be less depressed.

Isn't 265/70/16 basically stocknsize tires though?

This is one of the stupidest threads I’ve seen in a long time....

You add a lift and change tires and bitch about gas mileage on a 19 year old vehicle. Where do you live? Winter gas you always get less MPG. Is your float even working correctly? Perhaps there’s more fuel in your tank than you think. Crunch the numbers manually and see what’s going on. But it’s certainly not just your tires that are causing the issue.

265 is the largest that will fit (generally) with no rub. I believe the actual original size was 245 but I may be wrong on that.

Not all 4wd had 16 inch wheels. It would have to have been a TRD package for that size.

Just looked it up at Toyota. 265/75r16 was stock size for TRD. But non TRD came with 225/75r15.

Before the lift, after the tire change I was shocked when MPG was affected due to how much a change in grade tire affects everything. Hoping maybe going from stock size grade E to 33” lighter grade will ease things up. Anyone know what grade Cooper Discoverer STT pros are

But they are mud terrain... which isn't going to help your gas milage.

You're right... I stand corrected. 265/70r16 was stock not 75. On the TRD model.

265 was not the size for nonTRD models though.

if ANY1 were to get same sized tyre from ALL makers .............stand them up on the floor

they are square enuf they WILL Stand up !!!!

they are essentially ALL different sizes .........even tho they are MARKED SAME SIZE !!!!! ( some shorter / some taller )

so if U dont do the math correctly to equal them out

1 tho different than another WILL CHANGE THE SPEEDOMETRE + Odometer reading

    making all calculations DIFFERENT

Don’t forget- not only does winter blend gas drop your MPG but you’re getting more air into the engine. As it gets colder, air will compress and you’ll get more air in meaning more gas burned to maintain the proper ratio.

That’s why cold air intakes are used.

And then your tire pressures drop because of the same reason, and lower tire pressure adds resistance, so more gas used.

so, winter blend gas, more air into engine/more gas used, tire pressures drop and you get more tire spin in snow and ice so more gas used with no movement dropping miles per gallon.

Add to this the physical changes you made to your truck.
