What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

It's been a while seen I did my my lights, but don't the instructions say to have the Morimoto ballast vertical? Pretty sure that was what the instructions said that came with my harness. Perhaps it is not a big deal either way? Dunno.

For what it is worth, make sure to wire everything good and sturdy so it doesn't move around at all the connection points. I didn't do a perfect job the first time and one and eventually both headlights wouldn't turn on, sporadically, unless I popped the hood and wiggled them (probably bounced around from wheeling offroad). Finally redid everything, cleaned the connections with electrical cleaner, and added dielectric grease to all connection points. Been solid ever since. Because I wheel and my shit bounces around I will always use dielectric grease for my connection points moving forward (eventually adding light bar, etc; locker before lightbar ).

 

Cut off the ridiculous excess bolt threads on my Wheeler's U-Bolts. It's not very pretty but at least I'm not making corn rows now either. I torqued them down to 70 lb/ft since it's unclear exactly what these things are supposed to be at. Added an AJT Design black emblem too for good measure.

 

They are ridiculously long. I had to cut mine down that came with my u-bolt flip kit.

 

To accommodate larger aftermarket leaf packs, I believe. Imagine trimming those to fit on a stock leaf pack lol

I get it, just think they should sell different sizes versus the longest set for all size leaf packs. They were extremely long for my medium Dakars before I upgraded to Deavers. A lot of us will cut them down, but I presume some of their customers are not comfortable doing so.

 

I had 2.5 inches of thread after the nut. I couldn't even get a deep socket on to check the torque.

 

I had so much my flipped u-bolts would hit the frame before the super bumpstop would fully compress.

 

They're great U-Bolts, would just be nice to have the option of shorter ones so we don't need to go through cutting them off. After torquing mine down more, I've lost more vibration in the drivetrain. Was probably getting some axle wrap because if it.

 

Anyone run into the problem of having their trip-meter stuck on 'Trip A' and not be able to change it to the
'OD' setting, is there a fix? Is this a symptom of a larger issue like the cluster getting ready to fail?

In hindsight I REALLY wish I went with them for my headlights as opposed to having someone here on TW make them.

 

I changed my oil (Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30), banged off/blew out my afe air filter, filled my windshield washer reservoir with Rain-X orange sauce, replaced a burnt out license plate bulb.

Need to order more OEM drain plug gaskets, used my last one.
