Yeah they are nice reels, I just don’t use them. They sit on my shelf in their boxes collecting dust. I figured might as well get rid of them. Lol

That SX is tempting for chatter baits. Damn.

Told myself I’d hold off on buying fishing gear for awhile but ended up making another purchase last night. Another little buddy mr heater (lost my other one), a MH Fenwick ice rod for bigger baits (and bigger fish), another ice scooper and a plethora of jigs to use through the ice.

I’m disappearing next week and fishing my ass off to the point of no return up there. Goal is to nab either a lake trout or a brown.

Dudeeeeee you let me know when you're ready to go up! I can't imagine how fun it would be hooking into those brookies through the ice.

once we figured out where they were it was ON. That was a lot of fun, summer time in a kayak could slay.

Yeah as soon as we pulled up it all made sense why you were talking about how much better it could be with a kayak. Im sure the fatties are hanging deep in the middle. If we hit that ice fishing, we could drill a few holes starting off the bank and going into the middle and see where they're holding. I've got a couple ice-specific fish finders so we could actually see what's happening underneath/around us too which would be nice.

Norcal guys. think we should do an informal fishing tournament?

say we pick a month. March. then the most fish caught that month with photographic evidence wins bragging rights. we should say, keepers. 12" or larger?

i dont know..rules. i hate making up rules. but a 12" counts as much as a 20". seems easier than keeping lengths, and adding it up. but we can if you want. best of five or something?

    We probably need categories:
    LMB
    SMB
    striper
    halibut
    surfperch
    dungeness crab (of course)
    rainbow trout
    brown trout
    etc!

My bud fished the San Lorenzo this morning for steelies after this weeks rain. Said a bunch of guys were out, not a single take. Anyone heard otherwise or had any better luck? Is Don gone?

Also wondering if anyone here can recommend a good mechanic/shop in the east bay/Oakland to do a once over on the new RC I've recently picked up. I've got the basics covered when it comes to most mechanics but would prefer an experts eyes before I start going on longer trips.

Agreed on catagories plus more rules/regs would be needed. I'd advocate waiting until after April 15th for some species, trout opener/ basic summer season. And whats about goldens, brookies, cats, carp anyone? Can catch 20-50 on a good day on spring creek. 12" is pushing it though for the wild trout, I'd call 8" a good fish. But hey, I let them all go and theres no keep length.
