Pneumonia for us old folks, too. I've also had Plague....a few times...Hepatitis and Cholera innoculations...and God knows what else Uncle Sam saw fit to inject into me.:rofl:

It's a balmy -1 deg F right now here at Mighty Mortgage Manor. Glad I'm not going anywhere. Still waiting for our Covid test results but both of us are symptom free. Hoping it comes back today so we can go get our Christmas tree.

Otherwise, I'm staying indoors today. Stay warm and safe!!!

We came up with several alternatives...Oppressive Payment Place, Heavily Leveraged Lodge...but Mighty Mortgage Manor was the clear winner. :D

Good Morning folks. Missus made her apple, walnut, cranberry pie and it looks delicious but I was told I couldn't have any until we shared it with our neighbor. Good people and they sent food over when the wife was in the hospital. So I don't mind the wait.
Getting ready for the Christmas holiday but there will be a bit of a damper because of the covid on our Christmas Eve dinner. Instead of family and friends, it will be just close family this year. Will miss the time with all but the old adage comes to mind "Better safe then sorry". And like Philadelphia pro team coaches always say "There's always next year". Have a great day folks and for those up North, stay warm and for those in the warmer climates, PLEASE send some warmth up this way:).

I guess the replacement sign would say Visually Impaired Hill. :)

Good morning all. A warm 25 degrees in Bowie, MD this morning.

I tossed the shackles of my Mortgage Manor 10 years ago and have not looked back. Seems like everyone in my family have chosen to move and take up a new Mortgage. Some say downsizing but all have used the term no outside grounds maintenance.

Good morning Tom, 5 more months and no more ties to the mortgage company. The wife and I moved into a "no grounds maintenance" house 17 years ago. The HOA can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but it has good points. Especially when it snows and the contractor clears all walks and driveways while I sit watching with a hot cup of coffee:). Best part is if we go away, I don't have to worry about coming home to shoveling snow and ice or grass 8" high. I didn't think I would like living with an HOA, but I have adapted and our board is good.

Good morning 60's / wannabes / Susan! Snow still is pretty here, maybe because it is still early in the season. o_O Ask me again in March!

We're debating whether to bring my 90-something mother out to the house for Christmas dinner. On one hand I can argue that it's probably safer than my twice weekly visits in to see her at the senior facility, but I am pretty careful with the masks and hand sanitizing on those visits. Dinner would necessarily be maskless. The COVID numbers are ugly here and the hospitals are feeling the strain. She has COPD and is probably the highest risk (after medical staff providing direct COVID care) imaginable. So do we just let her sit there alone on Christmas?

Sigh. I wish I didn't have to make choices like this. What a year.

I know you'll make the right decision Dave. It is really a tough decision for this time of year and I know she would love to be with family. God Bless her and keep her safe, and you and yours as well.

    Morning all:
Just "HAD" to go to an auction this morning, guns, tools, fishing, and reloading equipment were listed. First of all it was 6 degrees and the auction was outside, I DRESSED WARM, took a look around, and figured there was nothing there that I really couldn't do without! Even with the bitter cold, the place was packed with people, would have been interesting to just stay there and see what some of the guns went for. There were two guns there that caught my eye, a Remington Model 7 in .300 SAUM, and a TC .50 cal. Hawken flintlock, if that Hawken would have been the newer version with the hardened frizzen and the redesigned lock I just may have stuck around and bid on it. Wouldn't mind having the model 7 either, I really don't need it, and would bet that it will sell at a premium since Remington went out of business, same with the TC Hawken FL, seems like those are really desirable since TC stopped making them.

My sister called with the latest conundrum - do you CV-19 immunize persons in hospice? At the location where my mother is living, the manager has decreed that the choice is "turn down allowed"...... but to protect his staff they will schedule everyone. That has been their past practice with flu shots and little uproar. Ma has shown some allergic reaction in the past to some medications - enough to give sis some worries.

Had I not paid off my mortgage several years ago, i would not be sitting here retired. Fortunately when my parents passed, our small inheritance allowed us to pay it off. I would still be paying for a few years if I didn't.

@Oldie2007, you chose a beautiful place to get married; the palace grounds are great.

Ken, I'll get some more tropical pics up for you to warm up with.

Wow that's a tough call. Although if all of the other residents and staff get the vaccine the likelihood of the hospice patients catching it is greatly reduced.

Dad was in hospice care for a little over a week. When his time came things moved pretty quickly. Another resident down the hall has not had the same experience and has been under hospice care for several months. I really feel for her because I know she is suffering, even with the high test meds available in hospice.

I just read that London is being shut down because of a new strain of COVID that is much more easily transmitted! :facepalm:They're not sure yet if it is more or less resistant to treatment/vaccine/etc. but suspect it will be about the same as the original strain. We're in for a tough next few months methinks...

    :facepalm::facepalm:

I was even debating on going to that auction, I believe that when your time is up it's up, if it's my time to exit there's no getting around it no matter what!
One place I try to limit going to is Walmart, usually only need to go there once a month and that's once too often. I only go to a few places anymore, but that doesn't matter, that virus can be anywhere and on anything, maybe those cheap cigars I smoke will kill it, that is if they don't kill me first!

    Those old TC's are nice.
Few years back, someone gave me a .50 Renegade Caplock with a cracked stock.
Repaired the stock, refinished it and it's good as new. It has the original TC peep on it as well.

Weather permitting we are doing an outside around the firepit get together on Christmas day at 6pm. My wife found some sparklers for the young and young at heart.
