Really...? Adding additional traction sips to a tire can cause an insurance denial?

That assumes the insurance adjuster would ever cross reference the tires with the manufacturer's specifications to ensure the tires were unmodified to which i can confidently tell they won't.

My dad is an adjuster and has been for over a decade and has never done that.

Here it is, Falcon tow haul lift shocks set to level on front and 1.25” lift block on rear, Firestone air bags with day star cradles also installed.

255/85R16 Cooper ST Maxx with spydertrax 1.25” spacers front and rear no rubbing so far.

I guess when nobody answears your question you gotta go out and try it.

    more pictures tomorrow

P.S. the truck just got lifted today, it has not been aligned yet. We will see if it still clears everything after.

Modifying/mutilating tires should raise a red flag for anyone, dude. Buy the right equipment so you don't hurt someone (or yourself). Cutting into your tires.... Seriously....

    Now that looks good

Siping tires properly isn't any more dangerous than doing a SAS properly.

Overloading a vehicle beyond the GVWR with big tires, steel bumpers, swing out tire carriers, skids, sliders, RTT, canopy, racks, etc is way more dangerous and still probably won't change your legal standing in an accident.

True, commercial tires for semi trucks get recapped and siped all the time, I worked at Les Schwab tire centers for 9 years and siping tires was very common. I never saw any “danger” in doing it.

Looks so good, still not aligned but it was rubbing on the mud flat a little bit. Not even close to the cab mount though.

Do they get recapped and sipped in your buddy's garage?

Or in a professional shop? Big difference.

Siping is so stupid simple, we would do it by hand on some knobby tires. If you know not to go past the tread depth you would be 100% fine.

    Key word "properly".

If you are not changing the balance or the structural integrity of the tire, and not wiping the outside edge tread, then all is good.

Right. But picture this: wreck happens. Bad weather. Somebody's wife gets killed.

They find out the guy who killed her had "modified" tires.... Maybe the body shop mentioned something, maybe the insurance was being extra through because there was a death (pick a reason).... You don't think they're gonna go apeshit over that?

Happens to truckers when they run illegal tires and kill someone.

You want to be unsafe, that's on you. Gona fit a pipe bumper to your block lifted bro truck too? Go right ahead.

    Or

Buy the right fucking equipment the first time and no one gets needlessly hurt.

Funny shit about this argument is that the original poster never said he would sipe “his own” tires. There are many professional tire shops that sipe tires on a regular basis. You are acting like he said he would take a fucking hot knife to them himself. Siping is 100% safe and a common practice in the tire industry.

yeah there's like four times I mentioned in here the difference between doing it at home and doing it professionally because some of the cocksuckers in here are talking about messing with their own shit in their own garage.

Like I said, you want to mess around with safety stuff it's 100% on you. I hope to God you never run into a situation like I mentioned above where you're responsible for killing someone because of your own stupidity.

Be sure not to change your own oil, as you may do it improperly and kill someone because you did it wrong and somehow got oil splashed onto your windshield causing you to crash and kill someone.

The insurance adjuster will absolutely have you hung for even thinking of not having your oil changed by a professional that knows what the heck they are doing.

Note: People have been siping their own tires for ages with a nice sharp box knife, carpet knife, and hot siping tools and driving millions of miles without issue. I have NEVER heard of anyone EVER getting into an accident due to siping their tires, let alone held accountable for a death in an accident due to tire siping.

Oh, and you can keep the name calling to yourself, or at least between you and your dog.

Scratch that, leave the dog out of the name calling as well.
