no start when cold

so three out of five days this past week the truck had a rough time starting. its been cold at night, mid teens to mid 20's. i go out to the truck in the morning, turn the key all i hear is a single click and nothing else. i do this several times and then all of the sudden it starts no problem. any ideas on what the issue is?

its a 2010 2.7L 5 speed

 

maybe a bad starter,check your battery connections

 

have the battery checked for free at kraigens, get the easiest possible problems out first.

 

you think it might be the battery? i mean it litterally makes one click noise then is silent, then after several turns of the key it starts right up. doesnt seem like i weak battery to me, but you never know i guess.

 

yeah you never know and you can check it for free. But since your a 2010 why not take it to the dealer and have them worry about it.

 

thats my plan, just wondering what TW thought it might be. the other problem is since it doesnt do it everytime, i know i will leave it there and when i come back to pick it up they will give me the usual "cant replicate the stated problem"

 

This is a pretty common symptom to have with a worn out starter solenoid, but obviously not on a 2010. Could be a loose cable at the battery or starter. I would not even lift the hood if it were me, let the dealer do their job. Unless you're like 100 miles away or something.
