Let's be honest, no one outside of 1 dude here would be buying a rivian to actually offroad in. Same as a g-wagon or any other super capable luxury vehicle

You brought up the Rivian as an alternative to the Bronco, therefore it's logical to take it up the same trails as the Bronco :boink:

They're also advertising "Drive through 3 feet of water. Rock crawl at a 100% grade. Traverse just about any terrain with 14 inches of ground clearance."

Day 2 of 17 off in a row.

We tackled the new snow wheeling trail on VMUTS today, #93. Winch required for this trail in the winter.:cookiemonster:

Took us 7 1/2 hours. What a day of wheeling!

    :mudding:

Of course I was tired at the end of the trip, and forgot to get out and take a picture when we got pulled over by the OPP on sleds. They are always out checking sleds for insurance, registration and alcohol. Bah I wanted that pic and totally spaced out on getting it.

    Is it good or bad when the OPP officer gets off his sled and says;

OPP officer: 'Hey Wes! Naw I dont need your ID I know you.'

    :cookiemonster:

He owns a taco and loves seeing my rig out there :bananadance: He has pulled me over while he is in a UTV and on a sled.

Could use it on inside of your cap as a spot to mount some sort of sliding shelf unit. kind of like the slide out shelf for an ARB fridge

Though its an expensive way to do it.
You would need 4 of the looped tie downs ( 2 spots) along the rail, x2 rails (so 8 looped tie downs in total)
For 2 parallel bars. Plus 4 of those adapters...

You could just get the threaded l-track thing i have for the back rack to do the same thing

Next cap is going to have a floor that you can just rivnut directly too. Won’t put any holes in my bed and will allow me to just mount what ever where ever. The caps going to be pretty small so won’t have too many options lol.

I don’t know to be honest. I’m going to roll with the flat as is since I don’t expect is doing any long trips anytime soon.

I’m thinking a year or so. Have to get set up with aluminum welding first. Debating to do it in steel since the canopy will be so small and removable I don’t have to worry about rust. If I got 1/16” steel I think weight to cost would be close to aluminum. Plus it would be easier to repair of needed. It would be completely skinned with aluminum.

Other option is to just cut up my current canopy and weld a floor on it.

I could consider buying a g500 for around 30k, if I had the pockets, but still, it's a difficult proposition.
I don't see anyone doing that. Long are the times I used to see Gs on off-road competition. the old g300 swb.

I found someone using the g in hardcore rc though!

If you build with steel you could get it hot dip galvanized if you're concerned about rust. Remember when skinning in aluminum that aluminum and steel are dissimilar metals and will corrode if they are in contact.

Thanks for the link @TRDTaco420 ~ Most stores near me don’t seem to have them but Exeter has 3 and Stratford has 5 as of 7 AM this morning ~ Pricing is the same as your screenshot $89.93.

Must be a discontinued item so they’re blowing them out.

For the money I might rig one up to my old TACO to help my old ass line up my receiver ball on my trailers.

The only time I wish my truck was an automatic tranny is when I’m hooking on trailers because riding the clutch with big boots on is no fun!

I don't see many G-class for sale on Kijiji, only ~30 in the whole province. Cheapest one that isn't an old private import is $37k after taxes (because of dealer sale): https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks...es-benz-g-class-g500-sunroof-heate/1464704070
And it's still an 18-year old vehicle with almost 200,000 km, with 22 more horsepower than the Tacoma...
